View Full Version : Random, serious, out of the blue "LOST" mythology question during the wait...

I've been just lying around here pretty bored the last couple of days, and for some reason started watching my Season 2 DVD set. After that, I moved on to certain episodes from Season 3 (the ones I remember being awesome, namely).

At any rate, I just finished watching "One Of Us", the episode where Juliet successfully infiltrates the Losties. Something hit me.

Juliet is pretty knowledgeable in the affairs of the island. Ben naturally must have a lot of things he keeps to himself, but we can see at the Other's camp that there's been a growing dissent with him.

Richard Alpert was the one that first brought Juliette to the island, and as we can see, he seems to be a pretty decent guy for an immortal. He may have helped Locke with the "killing your dad" thing because he wanted to get back at Ben, but it really did somewhat seem like he just wanted to help the guy.

With that said, after 3 years on the island, between the experiments, the already situated Others, Richard probably feeling bad for her and giving her tidbits of information, she CLEARLY has a decent understanding of the nature of the island and it's properties.

Again, I'm sure there are several major things Ben's been hiding from everyone, but for the most part it's safe to assume that Juliette knows a HELL of a lot more than any of us or the Losties do.

So, my question is this.

When we see Jack in the flash-forward, him and Kate seem to be pretty miserable. Kate seems decently content, but you can see the look of sadness in her eyes that she left. Jack, well, Jack's a mess. And his only desire is to go back to island.

If after Jack leaves the island, he comes to some insane revelation as to the true nature of the island, and Juliette is already pretty deeply immersed as to the true nature of the island, even with 3 years of forced stay, why the hell is she so desperate to leave the island if she knows what will become of her and the rest of the crew?

It's just something that, as I said, just hit me not even 10 minutes ago when I finished "One Of Us", and seeing as how we have no idea when we're getting Lost back, I thought it'd be nice to introduce a question I haven't seen asked on any of the forums yet to keep some kind of interest in the mythology going...
