It's one of the main reasons I got one. We've had some fun at parties just cruisin' YouTube and I wanted to be able to watch Veoh and the such on my television.
Any idea why my Wii keeps failing to connect to my router?
I detects it, and allowed me to put in my password, but when it does testing... it always fails.
What am I missing?

What am I missing?did you pur your wii on the router's safety list? your problem sounds an awful lot like the problem i had with getting my wii and ds to register and that's what i had to do. if you need help with it, just let me know. i'll probably be able to walk you through it on tuesday

Can anyone help or is this normal?never heard of this problem before. could be your internet speed or a problem with your provider. for some reason, my computer would disconnect or run really slow even though i had 3meg internet. went and talked to my provider and it cleared things right up

Thanks! Not sure if my router has a safety list, but I haven't looked. My laptop connects just prime and it didn't need to be added.
I can't remember the error message but it was like 51130 or something..

yep. that's the one. i guess i'm unsure what router you have, but if it's a linksys, i should be able to help
If you haven't also go to Nintendo's Wi-Fi website, it rates routers and mentions specific routers that may have trouble.

I have a Linkys and my internet provider is Verizon but my system still runs at a slow speed from time to time.

It's a Linksys alright. One of them jobbies with two antenna on the back. Usually works great, just don't know what's going on with the Wii. O_o

lol. alright. like i said, if anything i'll get you instructions tomorrow night, since right now i'm at work and then my night is fully booked
if you want, access your router on-line. i forgot the url, though. if anybody knows, please let us know. then, go ahead and dink around in there. on the back of your wii there should be a serial number that needs to input into the router so the router knows it's safe to let it access. go ahead and input the serial number and your wii should be good to go
sorry i'm not a technical genius. this would probably be a lot easier if i was. i really want to help, though, because i went for a long time trying to figure out how to get my wii and ds online before i finally stumbled to an answer

My day and night are also fully booked, so I wouldn't be able to do it up 'til tomorrow anyway.
Big thanks for whatever help you can lend. Truth be told, it's that funtion that is the main reason I got a Wii. That and Wii Sports.

For some reason the Wii always has a hard time trying to connect. The 1st time around it times out but the 2nd time it would connect. Really odd cause my PS3 doesn't give me problems with online at all!

Assuming your router has your standard protection activated, you'll need to tell your router to accept your Wii as "okie-dokie". There are instructions on how to do so on the Wii website under Support.

You may want to check out http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wii/en_na/online.jsp as well. It helped me when I was having online problems with my Wii.

Get the Wi-Fi Connector. It's much easier.

i wouldn't say that. i actually have both and have no need for the connector, mainly because the thing doesn't work half the time. my computer more often than not doesn't recognize it
besides, if you already have a wireless router, why waste more money on something you don't need?

That seems pretty pointless when he's already got a perfectly good router. I'm sure a little jiggery-pokery will get it working.
Have you checked to see if your router's firmware is fully updated? My Linksys router (a WRT54G) gave me all sorts of problems until I flashed its firmware to the latest version, and it hasn't given me any trouble since.
If you haven't already, also make sure to go to your Wireless Security settings and make sure both your Wii and you router are set to the same encryption scheme (preferably WPA2). You might also try entering the actual encryption key into your Wii instead of a passphrase and see if that makes a difference.

Where once I was getting error 51330 I think, I am now getting error 52130 after manually attempting to put in my router's settings.

I think I remember that error...it means your router is detected, but it's not connecting to Nintendo's server. Or something.
That's whack.
