Do you guys realize that soon (like in two weeks) will mark the 20th anniversary of Mystery Science Theater 3000? It was November 1988 that the show first premiered on KTMA TV-23.

Let's make a toast to one of the greatest shows ever made!

Here's to another 20! I wonder if by then all the episodes will have been released to DVD.

"MOVIE SIGN!!!"

Hello, I'm Crooow T. Robot, and I approve of the Following message...

But yes if you want to laugh at bad movies for 20 years, then MST3K definitely has been a real fun show to laugh with.. After all It's been there to make us laugh and see how bad it is to make a horrible movie.. Of course When you can then take two robots and a Human by the name of Tom, and have them make off the wall comments? You then have a surprise hit on your hands.

Let's face it, MST3K has always had that humorous overtone.. and believe me I hope it does come out next year on DVD.. it would be fun to listen to Crooow and the rest make off the wall comments.. After all if you can laugh at bad movies for 20 years.. it makes you wonder.. what will the next 20 bring?

Anyway that's why I say ... Vote for Crooow.. For President in 2008..

Paid for by the "Vote for Crooow" Presidiential Campaign..

Huh, this reminds me...

Is there any shred of hope at all for the public access episodes to show up on DVD, even for historical reasons?

Ah, ok.

Part of the problem being that they didn't have the rights to the movies they showed on public access to begin with.

Plus, the Best Brains don't want the KTMA episodes (or even the first season episodes) to be on DVD because they admit that they aren't very good. (And they aren't. They're barely watchable. It's worthwhile to see clips in order to see what the show evolved from, but a whole episode? A waste of money and resources.)

I have fond memories of watching MST3K on Comedy Central when I first got satellite. That, Dr. Katz, and Space Ghost Coast to Coast were some reasons why I really enjoyed the brand new channels I got back in 1996.

Strangely, the only MST3K DVD I currently own is "I Accuse My Parents". I really need to get going on buying some more. It's a hilarious show, and learning some of its incredibly esoteric references (or reveling in them BECAUSE I understand them) is part of the fun.

If the show launched in 1988 and this is only 2007, wouldn't that make this the show's 19th anniversary?

In either case, I'm currently celebrating the show's birth month by doing a tribute series in my DeviantArt gallery that depicts my top 25 favorite episodes of this, my favorite TV show of all time. Here's what I've done so far:

601 "Girls' Town" (http://jbwarner86.deviantart.com/art/Go-Bingle-Your-Bongle-68865855)
614 "San Francisco International" (http://jbwarner86.deviantart.com/art/My-Job-My-Way-68952483)
704 "The Incredible Melting Man" (http://jbwarner86.deviantart.com/art/Aadgjka-69046153)

Three down, 22 more to go...

I always try to find time for some major MST watching during Thanksgiving week, as per tradition. All year I've been celebrating my tenth year of MST3K-awareness. I haven't been doing anything much to celebrate, just occasionally reminiscing about life without MST3K. The show really sparked my efforts to improve my sense of humor and I thank the show for a lot of my current irreverent attitude toward entertainment, society, and myself. MST helped me realize that when things are bad, your best defense is a good attitude.

Yeeeeaaaah. I just noticed my gaffe. Actually, the folks at the MST3K Discussion Board politely pointed out my error.

I'm not getting enough sleep.
