If I can recall, there has been discussion now and then about Tom and Jerry created by Van Buren (?). Were they also a cat and mouse?

They were a human duo, in the same manner as Mutt and Jeff. When Official Films purchased some of the Van Beuren cartoons, the characters were changed to Dick and Larry to avoid confusion with the MGM Tom and Jerry.
