I can't defend someone's opinion now?

Since the mod who gave me the warning isn't responding to my messages, I need to ask this.

I defended someone's opinion on a thread, and got a full-blown warning, while the people who were bashing his opinion got NOTHING for bashing it.

So, I ask this: Is defending someone's opinion on Toon Zone the wrong thing to do?

Folks, if you have a problem with a mod, PM them about it-- and give them a REASONABLE amount of time to respond, since mods do have to do things like sleep and go to work just like everyone else. If they don't respond within a REASONABLE amount of time, contact another mod, an admin, or another member of the TZ staff through PM to ask for their help in resolving your problem.

I just want to quickly clarify that because warnings are private, you will not know if other people have been warned as well.
