Why does Batman Beyond needs a car when he can fly?

More weapons and technology. Plus, it looks snazzy ;) .

That's like asking why does Batman need the Batmobile when he can jump from roof to roof. It provides more defense. Not to mention I am sure it's faster. And can you imagine how much the fuel costs to run the Bat suit to make it fly compared to the cost of the flying Batmobile? And the flying Batmobile could hold more fuel, not only for it's engines but if Terry needs to refuel.

Why use a car when you can run? Basically, it just gets him around faster, I guess. I don't know.

Why does your Grandpa want to know?

I wish my grandpa watched Batman Beyond!

The fuel factor is a good point, and Terry probably would get tired holding his arms out all day, but none of these are the REAL reasons for the use of the Batmobile. In the end it comes down to one clear reason...

Chicks dig the car.

Chicks DO dig the car.

Dang, I need a car.

Good point, although it is bringing back memories from Batman & Robin.

Robin: I want a car. Chicks dig the car.
Batman: This why Superman works alone.

Well, it does have missile launchers on it. :D

Terry can't care if chicks dig the car, he's got Dana and it's like he can drive it over to her and say "Hey, this is my batcar, dig it?!" :p

Fuel is a good point, as is technology and plus the car can be used as a ram or block other vehicles off.

and another thing to add to the speed factor..

do you REALLY think he could've out-run that giant laser at the end of ROTJoker, with just his wings and rocket boots? me no tink so... :) :D

Plus the car can go a heck of alot faster, also. It can just vooom through the city. Batman's flying.coasting wouldn't get him anywhere as quickly.

Why does your Grandpa want to know?

because in my day, superheros didn't use fancy "batcars" to get around...they used to have to fly fifty blocks during a blizzard just to get to a crime scene!

Speed, fuel, coolness are main reasons. Maybe tell your Grandpa to think of it like this: Batman original had a glider (sometimes even rocket powered), but he also had a plane. Or maybe think of it as the same reasons the military has so many different vehicles that perform similar functions.

Too bad the writers never wrote a scene showing Bruce pull out his hose and fuel up the plane(s) with that big rocket fuel tank he had hidden behind the Batcomputer. ;)

The reason is simple. A big flying car equals a big $20 toy at Toys R Us.

He likes to watch BB. He thinks Terry is especially funny with a flying suit and a flying car. :p

He's got all that and yet he puts up with Dana's complaining even if he does get beat up or almost get drowned by some weird dude taking over his suit.
