This is the talkback thread for "Disney Princess Enchanted Tales: Follow Your Dreams" Sure to Please Target Audience (http://news.toonzone.net/article.php?ID=19563).

So, little girls will enjoy it, little boys will hate it, and the adults forced to watch will not want to gouge their eyes out? Interesting...

Which Aladdin characters show up in the Jasmine segment? I heard Iago shows up but (predictably) not Genie. LOL it's like a lost episode of the old TV show. :D

Apparently, the only major characters that don't show up are Aladdin and the Genie.

With that kind of demand, Disney could have slapped the label on some lame, phoned-in video release, so it is to their credit that Follow Your Dreams is a fine video that will definitely appeal to its target audience of young girls, even if it doesn't stretch very much beyond that.
Um, every single other Princess release has been lame and phoned in. They consisted of one episode each from the Little Mermaid and Aladdin TV shows, with Ariel and Jasmine cut out and redubbed in the beginning to introduce the cartoons. This is the first time they've bothered to make new cartoons for 'em.

If that weren't enough, her late mother's beloved horse Sahara goes missing, and she has to find him before the Sultan finds out and punishes the kindly stable boy Hakim.
There's some rare acknowledgment; the fate of Jasmine's mother is never brought up, and her existence has been mentioned only about twice in the entire Aladdin continuity.

It's worth noting that the mention of the second original Princess DVD may not happen. I think I heard Lasseter put the brakes on these things and this was the last DVD to make it out.

Yeah, I knew about those other crappy Princess DVDs. I probably should have said, "on ANOTHER lame, phoned-in video release."

Well, there is both a trailer on the DVD and the music video with Belle that is even labeled as "from the upcoming DVD etc." I'd be a little surprised if they weren't coming out eventually.

Then again, now that I think about it, there was also a Tinker Bell trailer on there, and I think that project HAS been put on indefinite hold, so it wouldn't surprise me THAT much. This DVD also gave two different answers on what's next for Disney Princess DTVs. I do know that Lasseter has nixed the DTV sequels, and Disney is now pushing out the last ones they have (there's another Pooh movie coming soon, I think).

It's kind of a shame, actually. This disc was a lot better than I thought it would be, and I still think Cinderella III was a wonderful movie. Disney finally seemed to get back making quality DTV cartoons just in time for them to get axed entirely.
