Well, Britney got laughed at by British reviewers at a film review a few days back after viewing her movie, and the poor reviews are still pouring in. Rotten-Tomatoes has a collection of al lof the current reviews so far, good and bad:

You know, I'd be frightened if it DID get a good review. Maybe this will be the mistake in her career that destroys her...

Meh. It'll still get a huge audience on the sheer fact that it's Britney Spears. Spice World wasn't a very good movie, but it was popular at the time :P
Hehe, I just saw the commercials. It was as if they knew it wasn't a serious movie and they were trying to portray it as one, but didn't really have the heart in it. "See Britney on screen! See Britney sing! See Britney giggle! See Britney scantily clad with a pillow in a bedroom! See a movie- maybe."

Actually in the Philly Daily News, someone gave Crossroads a B. A freaking B! The same grade as Hart's War and higher than John Q (which I'm surprised is getting such poor reviews). Of course, the reviewers were different people, but still, a B!

Don't look now, but next week's Entertainment Weekly gave the movie a B+.

...."OOPS! it's Glitter again, but it's about 3 girls, who drive really far..."
Oh, sorry. Just thinking of a good theme song for this soon-to-be Oscar nominee...

Hmm, perhaps Britney dancing in panties is more manipulative than we could ever imagine.

Ugh.
Well, I'm depressed now.
Then again, I expect no less from Entertainment Weekly....

Yeah, it's odd--usually Entertainment Weekly is pretty much on the money with their reviews (not always, but I trust their judgement).

It worked for Charlie's Angels with Cameron Diaz doing that. :p
If you want to see how bad Britney is at acting, watch the music video with her in that orange jumpsuit, in the middile of it there is some stupid Titanic joke thing about that necklace and she TRIES to act, but of course it comes out very poor. What this seems like is their type of make on "Anywhere but here" or something, dunno, haven't seen it but from the commercials that's what it seems like. This is definitely gonna kill her career, welp, at least she's doing something right!

Unfortunately, even if the critics pan it, I don't think it will. I think it'll actually further it. Ah well- her entire career is built on image and looks... and those don't last forever.... some day, my friends, some day... ^_^

Nope. She will have to go lower for something like THAT to happen.

Ouch.
Man, just reading the highlights of the reviews is entertaining. Probably more so than the movie is.

Of course as bad as this movie is, I doubt her little fans will notice, most of them liked jimmy neutron boy genius.

i heard that it only used $10 million to make. is that true? if it is, it doesn't take that much to cover costs of the movie.

You mean it hasn't happened yet? I'm always getting these stupid porn spams about her, I figured that happened after she became a "star." :p

Hey, wait a minute... did someone just say Britney Spears, in just panties (and bra or blouse I assume) shakes her butt and dances??? OK, I'm getting the DVD of this "movie" when it comes out.
I hate her music (nothing against her personally, I hate ALL pop rock), and this is going to be a really bad movie, but... but... OK, I admit it. I think Britney Spears is really hot! :p
I've said my peace... don't be a player-hater! :)

For the life of me, I don't understand why. After The Mask, Ms. Diaz got less and less attractive. Sure, There's Something About Mary (a very overrated film, to be sure) showed her as less than what she was, but Charlie's Angels was the straw that broke my back. When I heard that it was nominated for "Best Dance Sequence" at the MTV Movie Awards, I wanted to smash my television to bits. It ended up losing, but it's the principle of the thing!

I couldn't agree more. For all her potential shortcomings, she is incredibly attractive.

Critics are already calling Britney’s acting “machine-like” and “awkward.” One of the toughest reviews comes from the New York Post which described it as “a movie so pathetically lame even her most ardent fans will give this stinker a big thumbs down.” (Muchmusic.com)
Wow...can't get much harsher than that...

Well, it could....if her mom trashed the movie.

Yeah...that would be worse. Ah well, looks like this movie may soon join the ranks of Glitter? Will it be fatal to her career...we'll know soon...

Mariah Carey's movie came towards the latter part of her career, while Britney's is at nearly the beginning of it. If it bombs, and I am sure it will, she's got plenty of time to recover, but Mariah has got too many hurdles to jump over to get back where she was at. And I don't recall Madonna's early movies always working out for the best, either, so who knows? Maybe Britney will land the dream role next time in a movie that is actually good. If she would just stop tying to find some stupid role that goes out of it's way to demolish her school girl image and would just find a good movie to be in, that would solve 80% of her problems right there. The rest of it could be solved by taking some more acting classes.

Here's an amusing quote from my favorite radio station (yay 89X!):
Many mothers are protesting the new Britteny Spears movie, complaining that in the film Britteny drinks and loses her virginity. It seems that dads are now jumping at the chance to take their kids to see it.
This wouldn't suprise me a bit.

Yeah, wouldn't want to shatter the false image they have of Britney! After all, in real life she drinks and has....well, ya know.

While I don't think the movie will do well, I hardly think this will "hurt" B. Spears's career....
She's not doing as well as she once was though....
Maybe she'll wise up, change her style and actually USE the talent that she does possess...she can sing, she can act..I doubt she actually does this in this movie...but she has the potential...=\

Am I the only one who has the opinion that Britney Spears sounds like a frog when she sings?
(Not Michigan Frog-like though)

I dunno about a frog, but I'll agree that Britney can't sing.

I agree that Spears is a...well...I can't exactly say the words...but, I'm sure some of you know what I'm talking about( wink ;) NF ;) wink).
ANYWAY!!
So...anyway, I'm sure the movie will bomb. It can't be good. If you ask me, it just looks like an extended version of one of her music videos...and her version of "I love Rock n' Roll"?? Oh My God...NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She could have apepared nude wearing nothing but blacklight hearts on her...more strategic areas. I heard that's what she did for her boytoy Justin Timberlake in the budoir. Plus she's reading every sex manual she can find so when they are finally intimate, she can surprise him by being a tigress instead of a shy, blushing newlywed.... :o

02-16-2002, 04:29 PM
I didn't need to hear that.
NO, REALLY, I DID NOT.
Please stop Britney-bashing! I think she rocks. If she wears slutty clothes and you don't like it, don't watch it. If you don't like her songs then don't listen to it.
If you would be in her position would have done the exact same thing. I wouldn't mind making a crappy movie if they pay me a fortune for it.
Last month Britney was on a promo tour in Europe and this is what she said:
"There will probably be a bunch of people who will not like the movie and it will probably be the critics. Actually it would scare me if the critics like the movie, because whatever the critics like, I don't like." :p
Actually that's a really cool quote I think and let's be honest, do you like the stuff the critics like? Did the critics like Batman or Batman Returns? I don't think so, so whatever the critics say is not important to me. I will definately go and watch her film. It will probably not be the best film, but it won't be the worst one either. It will probably be just an entertaining movie and that' s all I ask for ;)

I wouldn't even say she sings that good. :p Frogs aren't trying to say they're not little girls anymore everytime they croak. ;)

Well I don't like her voice at all, it is way too harsh for me. I think someone who makes a living at singing should be someone with a good voice. Not just good marketing.

I can't stand her singing. All that wispy, whiney, Jewel-esque warbling just drives up a wall! The girl does not underand that singing requires the use of one's LUNGS and DIAPHRAGM. (I do opera. Sorry. Point of great annoyance for me)

Hey, I like Jewel's voice. Actually, I love it. Her vocals on This Way are amazing.
