My reason for doing this is a little odd. I would like to know what anime music everyone listens to because I can't seem to get enough of it. Youtube.com has plenty of videos with anime music being used in them, and so, I have access to literally thousands of songs. I like to set up playlists on youtube just to hear the music. I just want to get some more ideas. Recently, I listened to the Red Garden endings by LM. C, and I think they make great rock songs. I grew up listening to a lot of country music since it's my father's favorite genre. That's not a bad thing, but because I grew up listening to it, I don't really like it. I also missed out on groups like Metallica and am only now recently getting to know their music. Since I started watching anime, I have loved the music. I'm sounding like more of a geek than usual, but it's my favorite style of music, if it can be called that.:D Feel free to share, and maybe I'll have some new favorites.:D Thanks in advance.

I was just thinking of starting a thread like this. I'm also a big fan of anime music (though mostly 80s stuff), and am always looking for suggestions. It would help if people could be as specific as possible (series, song name, artist) so the rest of us can track down your suggestions.

Recently I can't get enough of the Hokuto no Ken/Fist of the North Star soundtracks. So many great, emotional, hard-driving songs:

Hokuto no Ken Series 1:
Crystal King: "Ai o Torimodose" (sounds like a Vegas version of Iron Maiden)
Kodomo Band: "Silent Survivor" (sounds appropriately like Survivor's "Eye of the Tiger"), "Dry Your Tears"

Hokuto no Ken Movie:
Kodomo Band: "Heart of Madness" (also sounds like "Eye of the Tiger"), "Purple Eyes" (atmospheric, sad ballad)

Hokuto no Ken Series 2:
Tom*Cat: "Tough Boy" (sounds like Bon Jovi), "Love Song"

If anyone can recommend another series with similar music I'd be much obliged.

Pick up any of the three Cowboy Bebop CDs by Yoko Kanno/Seatbelts (OST 1, No Disc, and Blue) for a great mix of jazz, blues, various types of rock, and soft ballads. Seriously, there is something on these soundtracks to appeal to everyone. The soundtrack from the movie (OST Future Blues) is also very good.

I also have the three OST CDs for Escaflowne by Yoko Kanno - these generally have more orchestral-type bgm (also a few "pop" types of songs and some ballads) but it's very good music. (Actually, pretty much any Yoko Kanno soundtrack is just plain good!:D )

The music from FLCL by the Pillows/Shinkichi Mitsumune is excellent: kind of a mix of happy punk with a few coolish slow songs thrown in for good measure.

The music from Paranoia Agent by Susumu Hirasawa is a lot of fun if you like electronica.

Finally, the music from .hack//sign by Yuki Kajiura/See-saw is beautiful: kind of a mix of techno/celtic with beautiful vocals, perfect for wet autumn days.

"Omae no XXX de Ten wo Tsuke!" from Gurren Lagann is all I'll ever need. Keeps me motivated when I listen to it. I seem to spout off manly, hotblooded phrases too.

Lets see, currently on my wishlist...

Sambomaster (Naruto 5th opening, I think... all of their stuff is good though )
Captian Straydum (the psychodellic Naruto ending and the second ending to Gintama)
UVERworld (Second Bleach opening, a Blood+ opening (I think) and... I don't remember what all else. X) )
Home Made Kazoku (already mentioned somewhere up there)

And I'm really enjoying DOES but Shura is the only song I can find by them thus far... >.>

Oh, and Amplified. Mr. Raindrop for the win! XD

I'm really odd when it comes to anime music- I'll tend to love music from shows that I dislike, such as BLEACH or GitS.

I've yet to meet anyone that dislikes music from Bebop. I mean, I think that's just a given. No one can resist. For BGM, as well as OPs and EDs, One Piece is awesome. I loooove One Piece's background music, especially. But for openings, I still can't warm up to Believe. D=

Naruto is another series that has awesome BGM. I think the endings > openings, though. Prince of Tennis has aaawesome music. I listen to that all the time. Eyeshield 21 has some really groovy music, too. And of course... Digimon. Digimon has kickass music, really, if only for two words: Wada. Kouji.

KuwabaraTheMan

For BGM:

One Piece is probably the best. I'd also give props to Cowboy Bebop, Digimon, Samurai Champloo, Vision of Escaflowne, and most Gundam series.

For Openings and Endings:

The Biggest Dreamer by Wada Kouji (Digimon Tamers)
Believe by Folder 5 (One Piece)
Battle Frontier by Akina Takaya (Pokemon Advanced Generation)
rose by Anna Tsuchiya (NANA)
Catch You, Catch Me by Gumi (Cardcaptor Sakura)
Butter-Fly by Wada Kouji (Digimon Adventure)
Gouing! Going! My SOUL!!! by Dynamite-SHU (Digimon Savers)
No Need for Promises by Mayaa Sakamoto (Vision of Escaflowne)

Anna ni issho datta no ni by See~Saw (Mobile Suit Gundam SEED)
My Tomorrow by AiM (Digimon Tamers)
a little pain by Olivia (NANA)
Kimi wa boku ni niteiru (Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny)

Just the first few that came to mind.

-The opening of Kikaider (Theme of Gemini by Akira Mitake)

-every track in cowboy bebop

-witch hunter robin opening and ending.

-the song at the end of the Endless waltz OVAs (last ova).

-full version of Mythical detective loki ending song.

-"Alones", the 6th bleach opening song, i think.

Among the weirdest anime songs has to be ZZ Gundam's opening "Anime Jya Nai!" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=68A3mCC3tKk) ("It's not anime!"). Um... what?!

Well, I liked the English score of DBZ. That's been a fav since my childhood.:D

I remember liking some of Tenchi (Universe's?) music.

The most current to come to mind is the battle music in Naruto Shippuden that plays while Sakura and Chiyo are destroying Sasori's puppets. Some of you must know it. The one with the violin. It's epic!

I guess I just don't pay as much attention to anime music, or this list would be way bigger.

I sure hope you mean the Japanese music, because most of the Americanized synth crap those shows used in America was awful.

But the Japanese music was nothing short of amazing.

Well, Pokemon used most of the Japanese music at first, so that was acceptable.

.Hack//Roots music too, one song in particular that reminds me of Tales of Legendia BGM...but I can't remember what it's called... EDIT: "Shining of Breast" is the name.

Honestly have enjoyed a wide array of anime music.

The original Dragon Ball Z soundtrack (not the U.S. version)
and the Tenchi in Tokyo soundtracks are two of my favorites composed by Shunsuke Kikuchi.

As well I have enjoy Yoko Kanno's work as well as Yuki Kajikura

Too bad the domestic market took a hit with Geneon's demise even though most people these days download soundtrack off the internet

If you want to get import soundtracks (Not Bootlegs) these two websites are the best to get them from.

More Anime Music I'm Listening To:
Chain by Back-On (Air Gear Opening)
Forces by Hirasawa Susumu
Red Fraction by Mell
Hikari no Rock by Sambomaster
Danzai no Hana ~Guilty Sky~ (English & Japanese Versions) by Kosaka Riyu
Dirty by Nightmare
Precious Times, Glory Days by Psychic Lover

I just can't seem to get enough anime music.:D If there were some easy way to get my hands on dubbed versions of anime songs, that would be great. I think FUNimation would make a mint if they released a soundtrack containing their dubbed songs.

Hare Hare Yukai-God, that thing's addictive. The animation on the moves is ridiculously fluid and awesome, and I can see why so many others are addicted.
FMA-Melissa-I always liked this OP better than the other FMA OPs; "Ready Steady Go" is OK, but the other two are just dull. "Melissa" really gets you pumped and in the mood to watch the show. The orchestral music in the show itself is pretty awesome.

I forgot the names of most of the OP songs, but

Every Bleach opening -They're all catchy songs and the only other anime that consistently has good OPs is

Every single Magic Knight Rayearth opening- Sure I'm a guy but, I have a taste for alot of Shojo openings, go figure.

Ai Wo Toromidose from Fist of the North Star-If this played in a Rocky montage, the movie would have been over in a minute that's how good it is.

I like Susumu Hirusawa's work in Berserk and Paranoia Agent. I even played Berserk's Forces to PA's opening a couple of times. It's awesome.

My other favorites are Samurai Champloo, Heat Guy J, FLCL, GitS:SAC (Spotter is one of my faves) and especially the music from "space cowboy" anime music(Cowboy Bebop, Trigun and Outlaw Star). I kinda like Evangelion's opening too.

I'm not too sure what the name is of the group that plays this song, but my favorite ending theme by far is "To the Other Side" from Full Metal Alchemist. I'm also a big fan of the 2nd intro as well, "Ready Steady Go". Both of these songs are too freaking epic for words.

The other themes I'm into are the opening to Evangelion, the "Respect" opening from Big O, and the "Heart of Sword" ending from Rurouni Kenshin. The 1st opening from Gundam SEED Destiny sounds pretty sweet as well, even though I've never even checked out the show itself:sweat:.

I liked the music in Evangelion so much I bought all the main volumes. :) So now I can't wait to get Evagelion 1.0. Aside from that, Spirited Away has an awesome score that inspires me every time I listen to it.
