The Jake and Rose plot.Mainly because it felt a revival of classic Disney movies and it held so much at stake. Also, the way their feelings developed and the way they actually had trials to overcome to strengthen their relationship made for a never-ending adventure. It got a little more dramatic after they found out about each other but their love deepened. So it was almost to be expected.Anyway, the fate of their togetherness was left at a promising if not more compromising cliffhanger. One I haven't seen many wished to be resolved

Ah,well.Continuing on with others opinions...

Don't get me wrong, I hope the show would get a revival, but I wouldn't say the ending is a cliffhanger.

Now ALF and The Silver Surfer, they had cliffhangers.

That...doesn't exactly answer the thread topic question but OK.:p

Let's just say then that it left room for an expanded universe;still loose ends.

Just had to be said, as that's how a finale should work. Closure with a hint of loose ends. That said, I'll post a snippet of my review from tv.com which should give my few cents on the show:

To be honest, when the show started out, it did strike me as another cliched tween show, only animated. The only thing that caught my interest was the relationship between Jake and Rose. That and any episode featuring The Dragon Council and The Dark Dragon.

The second season, however, improved upon the some of the flaws. Jake's sibling rivalry with Haley was better, and Rotwood (In my opinion) became a more interesting character). The design change didn't take that long to get use to, and even fit the more serious mood for this season. Furious Jealousy even made Stacey a more likable character.

The Jake/Rose plot. Especially durring the first season it felt like that was the only reason I was watching the show.

True, but some finales give too many loose ends. American Dragon's finale is a perfect example of this. Its main problem was that it was completely rushed and giving the finale another half hour, at least, would have helped those loose ends.

Anyway, I also enjoyed the Jake/Rose relationship. It seemed like a really honest kind of relationship and I loved how it developed and also how it became more serious in season two. I also just loved this idea of dragons becoming humans and their society. Not only do I love dragons and many stories infused with them, but I thought that the way this show handled their own take on dragons was pretty creative and I enjoyed watching it.

For me, I think the real reason for sticking by the show was to see if Jake's dad would find about the whole dragon thing.
I can't think of any other reason, I probably tuned in to see where the story was going with the Dark Dragon, or the whole Huntsclan ideal, and I guess Jake and Rose too.

To me, what was appealing about the whole Jake/Rose thing was that Jake's archtypical Girl-next-door crush was secretly his arch nemesis. Thats why I missed the Fighting/Flirting that going on between them in S1 after S2 rolled in. Of course what worked was the relationship sorta evolved from a simple crush into something more matured.

Besides that, What I also liked about the show was Jake's sometimes dysfunctional family (The Jake/Haley and Jake/Grandpa relationship is my personal fav) and supporting cast and the deep Fantasy/Mythology element they were involved in. It makes me sad that the show's over because it
seriously had potential to be even better.
