I think the release of AMV Hell really reignited my interest in the subject. I discovered a pretty good Big O one set to "99 Red Balloons." (http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members/members_videoinfo.php?v=147346) and another with a GTA motif. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iTP28NEF8ds)

Also been watching this Berserk one, (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZQrWhojOZTE) which I like far more than anyone should probably like something with Bon Jovi in it. (-:

Anybody else seen anything good lately?

i used this site (http://www.amv-contest-lists.org/)in the past to find links to good videos. However, they stopped running this year (a real shame, too).

Is there any other sites that list the winners for the contests?

I usually can find a bunch of AMVs on YouTube.

I like to embed them to my MySpace page (http://forums.toonzone.net/www.myspace.com/Lazerboy_5000)

But the first one that I recall that got me into AMVs was a Zero Tolenace Naruto AMV.
That one isn't on my MySpace page as of now, but you could find it on YouTube.

Ah, yes! There was a great one I saw at a convention in April. It was FMA doing the classic Strongbad hit, Trogdor the burninator.

Perhaps the catchiest AMV I've seen lately is Skittles (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=TIjsPFYdkZY), using Haruhi as its basis. Every time I see it, I can't stop watching it until the end.

I know using Linkin Park songs in AMVs is cliche, but this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w3-bi3X_vLY) Code Geass one set to "What I've Done" is actually really good. There are spoilers for the end of season 1.

Also on the topic of Geass, I'm not necessarily much of a LuluxShirley shipper, but this vid (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Up3knH-oJYY) set to "I Hate Everything About You" by Three Days Grace gets me every time.

But my favorite AMV still remains the Sasuke tribute (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=63h6EzBinK4) set to "Shackled" by Vertical Horizon.

GaoGaiGar set to Karma by Kamelot. The song just fit the show's hot bloodedness (is that even a word?). :P Good timing, too.

And, some from Darkandroid.
Doomsday set to Afro Samurai. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r8JQRCmv0ds)
Anthem set to Groove Master Rave/Rave Master (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IXOxpolhR-A)

Most of my favorite AMV's come from a YTer named supernanny, who mostly make One Piece AMV's. From time to time she does things like in the style of AMV Hell, which is known as "Project One Piece" Here is segment 3 set to the Thriller Bark Saga. Warning as most scenes take place in a point in time where most of the american audience isn't. You have been warned

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ehC56rmbcE4

I like the ones where she set it to one character, so far my favorite ones are
Son of a Swordsman (Zoro) set to the song "Son of a Man", Usopp to Sogeking, set to Hercules "Zero to Hero" and Chopper's Monster Point set to the song "Monster"

Trigun to Goldfinger's Superman (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n-bSZhJjJ-g) which makes use of the song subject quite well.

The sound quality for this one isn't the best, but I like FMA to Less Than Jake's All My Best Friends Are Metalheads (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4aXi5vG4cmw) which is fun to watch.

The thing that surprises me about that one was that it is apparently the second AMV he's made. Better than many that I've seen. Glad I downloaded it instead of passing over it (I tend to avoid ones that say "This is my [first, second, third], blah blah blah").

Anyway, I like Hold Me Now (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tHZqxecCukg), a Princess Tutu AMV (spoilers for the whole show in it, btw). Lovely song, too.

these three are my favorites.

first theres this one AMV dedicated to Bak (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rTJHOeJ12Y0)ura from Yugioh using the song "Time of Dying" by Three Days Grace which i think kicks ass.

second is this one amv about Bardock (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MEtY9L6bH2c)from that DBZ special i think is badass, the song is "We're All To Blame" by Sum41.

third is this berserk amv (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-PE22PP4lKw), its the coolest, its surprisingly welldone seeing what was used to make it, also i love the music (song is Dark Tranquillity - The Wonders At Your Feet).

I thought that this was funny AMV featuring Freeza/Frieza JPN singing about the nations of the world.

It funny because the JPN voice of Freeza is the same as Yakko in the Animaniacs dub over in Japan.

I've never understood some of the hate slung at Bon Jovi across the Internet (I like them personally), so here's a neat little Darker than Black AMV set to "You Give Love A Bad Name": http://youtube.com/watch?v=8pg3CaW2hPU. There are subtitles, true (for some reason in Spanish), and the dreaded "full-screen-wide-screen switch" happens more than I'd like, but the maker clearly put some thought into matching scenes to the music and beat. It's not bad, and has piqued my interest in the series itself.

I thought this Gurren Lagann video (http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members/members_videoinfo.php?v=158077) deserved a bump. Really. This is a close to AMV perfection as you can get. An epic song (Welcome To The Black Parade) timed to one of the most epic anime of this decade: Gurren Lagann. And oddly, the two go together extremely well besides their epicness.

Wish I could understand the Japanese quotations spliced in (though it's understandable since it is a MAD), though I can get the gist of some of them.

That was truely EPIC! I loved it. I've heard that song before, but not all the way through. Thanks for putting this up there, it was as perfect as an AMV can get.

I can't believe no one's posted the Ghibli AMV of Here Comes the Sun (http://youtube.com/watch?v=ZpXwPdJIOJY) yet.
It is filled with the joy. Even the bits with Grave of the Fireflies.

On that note, this (http://youtube.com/watch?v=cidG3DGkHR0) is one of the best AMVs I've ever seen. Ever.
Maybe Miyazaki is a fan of The Beatles, because "Here Comes The Sun" is still up, but that second video was removed because of a copyright claim by Studio Ghibli. :(

Anyways, the "HCTS" AMV was perfect. It all makes sense if you add it together:

The ability to rework movies or trailers into something completely different form their original tone is something that always impresses me. This one just blows my mind. (If I didn't know better, I'd have been totally fooled as to Totoro's premise)

Wow, I can't believe how well that works and yet portrays it so far different from the movie itself.

Okay, seriously, the "chick with the wings" was from a music video that Ghibli made for a song called "On Your Mark".

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cVEeeU99pbI&feature=related

Now normally I wouldn't make a separate topic for one single movie on youtube but this is just so epic, so amazing, so...crazily awesome that I just knew that I had to show it to all the mecha buffs on TZ. (I don't even recognize half the series besides the Gundam ones and GaoGaiGar and it was just that awesome) I almost thought my computer would break from the sheer amazingness of it all. The mecha go from between the years of I'd say G Gundam and Destiny so you're in for a treat if you've seen most of these shows. (I think its only sunrise shows so that's why there is no Gurren Lagann in this)

Watch the whole thing. Even if you get bored watch the whole thing. You won't be bored for long.

So please enjoy and comment.

P.S. does anyone know what song that one is originally from?

My lastest creation: Hypnotize AMV (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eS6uEtCCHbc)

So, yesterday, the campus internet gave out (one of my computer savy friends thinks the server was attacked). So during this period of bordom I decided to create another video. I used "Hypnotize" by System of a Down. Most of the pictures I used are the same as my last video. But this time my focus was on using effects so that the video has a little more motion rather than just a montage of pictures. So please check it out and let me know what you guys think.

So, it's kind of a long story, but please here me out. Over Thanksgiving Break I was digging through some of my old stuff and I stumbled open some anime CD's that my friend from AP Chem gave me two years ago. I had a bunch of anime like Naruto, Shakugan no Shana, My Hime, Galaxy Angel... and some other stuff. After rewatching the CDs (excluding Naruto, which I already watched) I took a liking towards Shakugan no Shana. I watched the entire series over break. Then I relized that since the episodes were on CDs I could import it into Windows Movie Maker and create an actually AMV. sooo.... TADDA!!! :D :D :D

Shakugan no Shana - Sweet Sacrifice (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=umuFk8dqQ1o)

I would like you guys to check it out and give me some feedback. Now I know there are subtitles and I couldn't remove them. Sorry about that, the oly thing you can do is just try to ignore them (just focus on the top half of the screen ;) ). I'm just going to note that I only used the first episode, just to keep it simple. I also felt that the song fit VERY well with the AMV. It turns out that most of the clips just fit perfectly with the song. I had to make fewer edits than I thought. Regardless I worked very hard on this and I put a good 3 hours into making this.

So if you guys could just give me some feedback. Tell me what you think. Did I do good for my first "legit" AMV?

I don't usually care for AMVs.

But seeing this one from Stand Alone Complex really hit me.

The maker of the video calls it a "Different approach" and it is. Rather than just random clips, it's a rather succinct set of spots from one episode in particular from the 1st Gig.

Oh well, I'll post this tribute to Trunks instead. Originally made by Mirai of Temple O' Trunks, an older site which exists to this very day. I say this here since youtube people apparently can't be bothered to say where their videos originally came from.

There's a very similar one in the "related videos," can't tell if the one is ripping off the other, or if it's just a matter of great minds and all that.

Apparently this one called Elvis vs. Anime has been floating around since 2003, I can't believe I've never seen it before.

YouTube:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ib7DOOOMbgI&feature=channel_page

AnimeMusicVideo.org:

http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members/members_videoinfo.php?v=9935

It's a parody (actually more like a shot-for-shot remake) of the actual music video to a remix of an Elvis song, with the live-action dancers replaced with anime characters. (Original video for comparison. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BSkDQYe2FYw))

That description doesn't really do it justice, though-- just watch it. It's absolutely amazing. Some AMVs you watch because you like the song, and some because you like the anime, but then there are some that you watch because the actual craftsmanship behind the AMV itself is so impressive. This one definitely falls in that last category.

A bit of self-plugging here: for those who didn't see it as part of my April Fools' joke, here's

Gantz, Saiyonios Zoddson, Gantz! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18a61iX1LNg)

The song is Jonathan Coulton's "Dance, Soterios Johnson, Dance" and the footage is roughly 1/4 Gantz, 1/4 DBZ, 1/4 Berserk, and 1/4 other random miscellaneous fun stuff.

Anyway, I'm currently working on some last-minute tweaks for the final version to post up on animemusicvideos.org, so any feedback is appreciated. In particular, some people have complained about some of the transparency effects; is there anywhere where you think the opacity of one or the other of the clips needs to be boosted a little to make things more visible? Or maybe a crossfade that could stand to be a little longer? Let me know.

That Dragonball one was awesome.

But, I just want to make it clear that no AMV using that song will ever be better than this.

I believe someone mentioned this on the first page...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQAf6MQj1kE (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQAf6MQj1kE) - best of you amv

But as some people (you :p) apparently never look at the front page and instead only the last one, it's good to post this again, even though it will only be the last page for a little while, and the first page will always be the first page... Hell, if I could get away with it, I'd post it on every page. The only reason I prefer the one I linked over the one you did is that the one I linked has a full list of the unbelievably high number of anime used in it in the info. Anyway, the only part of your post I disagree with is the "one of". :p

Ahaha nice. :anime: Good idea and you synced it well.

A majority of the syncing turned out well, which most of that was just how to do it.

Ill admit, there might be more that can be done to it, but i wanna leave it alone for now. Plus, i didnt know how to end it after bean killed that guy, so just a black screen seemed fine for now.

The AMV part (well, the music part) turned out pretty decent, it couldnt have been done differently in some areas, but giving with what i have, im just leaving it as is.

I like praise, more would be nice LOL.:D Thanks for the comment FUNiOP...

That was easily the second best AMV I've ever seen, right after Jihaku's Best of You AMV. They even use some of the same clips. This AMV was another reminder of why more Beck anime needs to be made.

Bumping this thread. I hope I'm not breaking any forum rules.

I found this anime mix amv (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=abidVS4OlDc) to be very intriguing to say the least, set to the song "Tall Tales Taste Like Sour Grapes" by Fair To Midland. :) And while we're on the subject of AMVs, I think I'll ask my question here.

I'm currently working on an AMV right now. Are there places where I can submit my AMV when I'm done with it such as a contest or something similar in nature? I was just planning on uploading it to my YouTube account when I'm done working on it, but I feel like I should do more with it. :p Any suggestions are welcome.

Second, when it comes specific conventions, I'd suggest Otakon, since that convention is known for trying to screen all the entries that it received for its AMV contest (whether or not it made the contest) at least once during the weekend.

I live in Houston, Texas to be exact. :p Guess I'll go google around and see if there are any upcoming anime conventions that are near here. Thanks for the advice, TnAdct1.

I whipped this up recently: Walking On Shonen (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j2qiFCPID5I).

Mostly Dragon Ball, a (very) little bit of Z, focused on Chichi and Goku and set to a mashup of Halo and Walking On Sunshine. Short songs are nice to work with because they let me finish before I lose interest. (-:

I've still got about a week to make tweaks before I hit the deadline for the Saboten Con 2010 AMV contest, so feedback is appreciated.

The ending is well done. My only real issue is the horrible colors of the Blue Brick masters, but you have to work with what you have to work with.

So in the end, I don't think you can even call that a complaint...

Do you really think the Blue Brick footage is that noticeable? I barely wound up using any at all; all of the teen Chichi/Goku footage is pulled from the old double-disc sets, and even of the chibi-Chichi footage, half of it comes from a flashback scene in the Great Saiyaman arc of Z.

I do notice that there are a couple of spots, mostly in transitions between different parts of the song, where I tried to overlay too many clips on one another and things get a little muddled. I'm doing some tweaking to try to address that.

It's primarily my general distaste for FUNimation's masters at the time. If the colors (espicially the darker colors) look almost black then I can typically point it out and it bugs me. Gokű's under gi turns from black to blue within the video, depending on the source. I can also spot a few rough edges but I chalk that up to FUNimation's double disc sets cramming too much on one disc.

I had no actual problems with your execution, though. I'm sure as hell envious, though. :p

Yeah, you can definitely notice the compression on the dual-disc footage. Not much to be done about that. But then, it's like fifteen-year-old animation, it's not going to look fantastic anyway.

Well, fifteen for Boo arc stuff...twenty-four for the earliest Dragon Ball footage you use, and even then we're dealing with generational masters that are probably copies of copies of copies of copies that were stored about as well as a cup of Jell-o under packages of raw meat.

But yeah, still like the editing work you did. It is very rare you see a Chichi AMV...

I finished making some tweaks to the final version of the video above, and its now available for download here. (http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members/members_videoinfo.php?v=178196) Nothing major, just some minor timing fixes, and I cleaned up one or two bits in which I'd laid so many clips over one another that it was hard to tell what was going on. No need to rewatch if you've seen the first version, but if anyone's checking it out for the first time, the downloadable version is the preferred one.

Just mailed off a disc to the Saboten Con 2010 AMV contest, so wish me luck. It seems to be going over well on the org, and those guys are the pickiest people imaginable when it comes to this stuff, so having their approval means a lot. (-:

Hate to resurrect old threads, but this is totally worth the necromancy.

Heh. I was actually going to make a thread and discussion about this.

Now, I actually have noticed the "running" and the "naked people everywhere" ones frequently, but I can't believe so many openings have done the "main female holding an orb of light" one
or the "two people falling in opposite directions" one

Easter may have been yesterday, but surely there's still some resurrection in the air!

My good friend Castor Troy/Ryan Molina (of 3GKai (http://www.3gkai.com/) and BattleGeekPlus (http://www.battlegeekplus.com/) fame) entered into SakuraCon (and won with) this little editing epic, Naruto Ball Shippuden Z (http://nbz.3gkai.com/). It's not his first crossover (http://www.3gkai.com/?p=519), but it is sadly his last AMV. Now, enough preamble.

Castor's been working on this behemoth for quite a while and it really shows. Many of the shots presented here are really well edited, considering they combine two radically different looking shows. I'm surprised that he (well, anyone) could get a few of those battle shots to look decent. Not only are the individual cutting and pasting shots good, but the flow is to. Set to Dragon Ball GT: Final Bout's opening, The Biggest Fight, the first portion really carries itself well with excitement and energy. Then again, it's a Kageyama Hironobu song so that certainly helps. ;p

Well, I guess that's all I should say. Anyone else have something to say? :)
