View Full Version : Would you like to see where the Superman: Doomsday universe goes?

I was just thinking, and yes I do know it was meant to just be a standalone, but still I think it would be worthwhile to see where the characters (specifically the Lois-Clark relationship, and Lex after that little ending monologue).

Anybody else?

Since the movie was based largely upon the comics, wouldn't it be logical to assume that the universe would progress in much the same way?

Not really, considering this film only used pieces of the original story to pretty much just build a similar story.

Precisely my point. Wouldn't it be logical to assume that if, somehow, the universe established in the film were to proceed onward, it would differ from the comics only to the extent that the film differed from its source material? To assume Lois and Clark go on to wed would be more or less a given. Luthor had clearly been in possession of Kryptonite for some time prior to the events seen in the film, so one could say the whole Kryptonite poisoning > clone Luthor business could come to pass as well. The list goes on.

I can't help but view this film as what made me have to wait an extra year for "New Frontier."

No, I could care less what happens in this universe. There are no other heroes, and it offers nothing any different than the over 60 years worth of DC Comics material, S:TAS, the live-action movies, Adventures of Superman TV series (1951), Lois and Clark, Max Fliescher's animated shorts or the 1940s radio show.

Now if it's Red Son or some other (interesting) Elseworlds story, than I absolutely want to see it on DVD.

Besides, the items we saw in the Fortress indicated (at least to me) that the DTV's universe did not differ greatly from S:TAS anyway.

I would like to see it continue, if only because I thought all the models and voice-actors were so amazing. I wish S:TAS had looked more like that.

What I don't understand is, if it's in its own continuity which will never be seen or heard from again, why the hell did they feel the need to slap on that silly "Dun Dun DUUUUUN" moment at the end with Lex? Who, as Bruce Timm pointed out on the commentary, could not have possibly survived the events of the film? That is, if they didn't plan to use this version of the characters again...which, we're told...they DON'T.

I really enjoyed the movie, but once it was over I didn't feel the need for more Alterna-Supes adventures- at least, not that specific universe.

I have no clue why they ended that movie with Lex hinting at a sequel. It was the one time where they didn't have to.

No. I didnt care all that much for the film, to be honest. It wasnt bad, but it wasnt good enough for me to want more. I'd rather something all new and just plain better.
