Just finished watching this on Jetix
I know I've seen Season 1 episodes where James Avery was voicing War machine and then I'd just hear a completely different voice coming out of his mouth but this felt like the worst one.
Whenever you didn't see Rhodey's face, you'd hear this voice that you knew was supposed to be his but it sounds completely different from James Avery's. What were they thinking ?

They both suck (IMO) but the 3rd voice is better.

I thought Avery was all right but Dorian Harewood, 3rd, was the best
On another note, I love how they'd give these first season episodes these long verbose titles that were supposed to make them seem deep somehow.

Isn't Teflon the stuff they use to coat frying pans with?

Isn't Teflon the stuff they use to coat frying pans with?Anything you want to keep from sticking, for whatever reason. Naturally, this gives it a whole host of applications: frying pans, machinery, and in certain guns (or, depending who you ask, when you need that extra armor-piercing zing), bullets.

When I first saw this title back in the day, I thought they would be fighting the ACTUAL GRIM REAPER, Wonder Man's brother, and we'd get a Wonder Man guest spot or something. Stupid first season.
The whole season is Tony building stuff for Mandarin to steal. What a strange way to start an episode: "This is what it would be like if the Grim Reaper fell into the wrong hands." Then why'd you build the stupid thing if that's all you were thinking about? What's the good news?

What's annoying is that this could've been turned into a fascinating story, well, in fact it was in season two - people using Tony's designs for ill means. Quite why Stark keeps designing weapons in this first season when he spends most of his time fighting such weapons is just another thing to add to the stupidly long list of things that the creative team behind this show got utterly wrong.
One wonders how much more successful Iron Man could've been had the folks behind season two being given the creative reigns from the beginning.

I just took a peak at this ep again on Jetix. I discovered that this is apparently the ep where they introduced the "Hall of Armors." The problem with the scene isn't so much the implausable number of armors that seems to stretch from the center of the earth all the way up to the sky. All they had to do to get Tony in that hall was have him get one of his specialized armors, like his Stealth armor or his Space armor or even his Hydro armor. But they couldn't even do that right; he just gets his regular armor, the one that he wears all the time, the one that comes out of his unfolding suitcase.
Episodes like this one put the perspective of Season 1 being "Superfriends 2000" while Season 2 being "Iron Man" in focus. Just...egad. Terrible writing, terrible everything.

For some reason, when I was 11, I preferred season 1 over season 2. IDK why. I hated the season 2 opening. Maybe I was smoking crack. IDK. Where was my brain??!
Needless to say, I was in for a shock when I bought the Fantastic Four DVD set and saw what garbage season one was.
