Ring Of Death- Who's gotten it?

(I'm surprised I didn't see a thread about this in the archives or anywhere... just one of those facts of gaming, I guess)

I bought a Core 360 the day after launch... and nearly two years later, the thing finally gave me the three-quarters "you're screwed" ring. All this after a system update and trying to add a friends GamerTag.

... so, who else has had to deal with this?

Twice, I just got my third console yesterday. I swear its so frustrating to have to be on Live all the time if I want to use my DLC and Arcade games. The more I think of it the more I want to get a PS3 out of spite.

.....But I'd more likely just buy another 360 from Best Buy and get an in-store warranty. Better games > Better hardware.

Once, four or five months after I got my console, the day I bought Bioshock.

I had it happen twice for me. One for the Core system I bought back in Christmas of 2005 then while watching a dvd movie, the screen goes black and the lights came on. Shipped to MS and got it back within a week. Then four months later the red lights came up again while watching a movie and this is the third one, but I sold to a friend of mine for the Elite no problem since. BTW my old xbox died on me one week before the release of Halo 2, and MS promise that the system will be back in time for 11-9-04 and they kept their promise.

It happened to my original about a year ago, just right after completing Hitman: Blood Money. Though, I still think it was partly my fault, because when I was trying to unplug it from my power strip, I accidentally turned it off in the process, just as it unplugged and made a tiny spark. The next time I plugged it in and turned on the system, the ring appeared.

I've been using my second one for about a year now, and nothing bad has happened.
