Well, here it is. Your chance to cross-dress.

Welcome to the Valentine's Day Avatar Contest. This Contest's theme: Animated characters you'd like to go out with. Don't just brag on your animated sweetie. Show him or her off by making them your avatar!

How the Contest Works: Now, most of you should know the drill by now, but for the benefit of our recent arrivals, I'll recap:

Find, find or create an avatar. Then, to participate in the contest come to this thread and put up a note. If the avatar is obscure, tell us a little about it.

Next Thursday (the 14th) I'll lock the thread; contest is over. At that point anyone on the boards (whether participating in the contest or not) will get to vote on the avatars they liked the best. To do this, send an email here (tzmovieclub@yahoo.com) listing the three posters in this thread who you think have the best avatars:

* Give the person with the best avatar 3 votes.
* Give the person with the second best 2 votes.
* Give the person with the third best 1 vote.

Voting closes the night of Saturday, Feb 16.

I will then tally up the ballots and on the 17th announce the top 3 vote getters and any honorable mentions.

NOTE: I will be participating, but since I'm the official score-keeper, I'm going to rule myself ineligible. So don't bother voting for my avatar, folks, it'll just be a wasted vote.

For this to work, you have to leave your avatar UP and UNCHANGED at least until the 14th. Don't change your avatar just because the thread closes; you have to give others a chance to look over your avatar when they go to vote. (In previous contests, I suspect some people lost votes because they changed their avatar too quickly.)

If you have any questions, you can post them to this thread also.

Remember, this contest is entirely voluntary.

This avatar actually looks a bit like her if she put her hair up--which gets me into my next thing, ponytails. lol, thanks nar. I'm got one, as you see, that I'm using now. Not the best pic of him I think, but it works while I'm still searching. And why Dick Grayson/Nightwing for my Valentine? Well, because, as dorky as it may sound, he embodies everything I think a guy should be: He's got a great personality, he's athletic and brave and goofy. He can be mature, and still a kid the next moment after. He knows how to cook, clean, and do the laundry :D , how awesome is that? He's got great charisma and can attract just about any girl. He can be bold and yet still shy sometimes......and he's just so totally hot!!! :p Who could resist that smile or those adorable eyes, especially when he looks sad?!

I'm going with an avatar I think speaks for itself much better than I ever could, even in my longest babbles. The times these two have gone through together have been filled with more hardships than they could ask for, and twice the ammount of story continuities! But one universal thing still remains. Their love. Barbara Gordon is any guy's, comic or otherwise, dream. She's extremely strong, extremely smart, extreamly wize, and above all, as we see here, compassionate. I just love this avatar and I think it's perfect for my WF butt to have up attached to my name. :)

What are you guys talking about? That's no ripoff of naraht's avatar. If you look at the S, you'll notice it's identical to The Dark Knight's original Supergirl pic. It just happens to be the same size as naraht's avatar, that's all. This great Supergirl avatar has my vote.

I think a lot of times what they do is take a human model, take their general characteristics, then perfect everything. Symmetry, incongruencies, blemishes, the whole works. I guess you could call it a digital makeover. ;)

Yeah, it's incredible. I think one of the reasons is the broad range of avatars to choose from for this contest. I've passed on a lot of other contests because I've had trouble finding good images to use. That wasn't much of a problem for this one.

Whew! Ten pages! To make it easy on folks, I'm going to go split the thread in 2, one containing just the avatars, and the other containing the commentary. I agree, it will be a chore going through all of them, and maybe this will lighten the load.

Holy cow! I can't believe the size of this contest!

I went back and split off examples of every avatar entered in the contest. You can find that gallery at the original "Valentine's Avatar Contest (http://forums.toonzone.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=19858)" here on AniGen.

To vote for your pick as "Best Avatar" your best bet is to go back through that thread and look at the enormous gallery of contestants. Gonna be a hard one.

To vote, send an email here (tzmovieclub@yahoo.com) listing the three posters in this thread who you think have the best avatars:

* Give the person with the best avatar 3 votes.
* Give the person with the second best 2 votes.
* Give the person with the third best 1 vote.

Voting closes the night of Sunday, Feb 17. (I've decided to extend the voting period by a day.)

I will then tally up the ballots and on the 18 announce the top 3 vote getters and any honorable mentions.

These instructions are also posted in that thread.
