This is the talkback thread for Jennifer Davidson Promoted to Sr. VP, Programming & Scheduling for Cartoon Network (http://news.toonzone.net/article.php?ID=19211).
This could be potentially good news everybody. Ms. Davidson has been with the network from the start, so we may finally see some semblance of sanity returned. One can only hope at least.

Thank you Lord in Heaven! Finally! I guess Rico Hill is gone, huh? He done worse that I expected.

But the complaints are just as fun as the fantasy schedules:D . Maybe if the schedule improves, they can read off our complaints in a What Really Grinds My Gears fashion.

I take it then that she has done good for the network before?

Rico Hill was recently VP/ Of Programming in May or June. He was prievously at Nick from 1997-2007.

Hmm, no wonder CN started airing live action. But no compaints about CN here.

And no wonder why Rico didn't last long. Man, he was appointed earlier this year and he's ZIP-gone, just like that.
Let's see if things start turning around at the ole` CN. We could already see Rico's ideas taking affect three months after his appointment, let's see where CN is going three months from now.
There might be a light at the end of this tunnel after all.

Well the good news is she has been with CN from the get go so she probably knows the deal better than anyone that could have come from another network. So I wish her the best and I hope she can change things for the better.
But I'm not really getting my hopes up.

How come ever since I've been to this site, I keep hearing about CN hiring new employees? It's like they hire someone every week. I'm also not seeing much difference in the departments these people are being promoted in.

I beg to differ. I don't believe that putting Ms. Davidson into that position is going to change the fact that CN has increased/is increasing its live action agenda.

Grudgingly, I'd have to agree with that. A new VP doesn't necessarily indicate a new regime. if CN's big brass is still hell-bent on turning the network into Nickelodeon/Toon Disney Lite, then appointing a new figurehead isn't going to alter their plans any. We'll have to see what changes, if any, that Ms. Davidson makes, or is able to make, during her run.
no complaints about CN here.
Well, that makes one of ya. Kidding. :anime:

Well, they needed someone after the ATHF debacle to scape goat, and then someone had to "resign." And by resign I mean a board of directors forced him to quit so they'd pass the buck of responsibility. I guess Rico musta been the guy who called "not it" too late, and wound up in charge.
I hope this new VP is reading this. Chances are she isn't. But I hope she realises the folly of trying to shamelessly grab ratings by selling out their values.

Actually that makes sense in a way. And Rico was put in a crappy position, and CN's fortunes have generally been twindling with him in charge. Rico Hill apparently bungled things too much even for CN's execs to tolerate, so they called someone up from the "old guard" to run the network and see if she can set it straight.
I have a feeling Davidson is a transitional programmer, though. She's going to be there long enough to right the ship and then some pretty boy(or girl) with bright (or not-so-bright but seems to be bright) ideas will takeover for an extended period of time. Davidson lasts a year, tops.

I hope she does well since she's been with the network and all.

Unfortunatly, she wants programming that will attract kids from 6-11.
It means bad news for anime outside of Adult Swim. And even worse for Toonami.

Yeah, those executives who want programming made for the target demographic absolutely suck.

Not at all. Only executives who lack effort for their programming sucks.

I'm afraid I'm also in the "not really going to change anything" camp. Despite Davidson's experience and familiarity with the CN of old--a moment of silence please--she still answers to someone else or others who wants to see the network move further away from that, IMO. With more and more live action projects already in the works, Davidson may actually wind up being blamed for what's "wrong" with the network more so than her predecessor...

Unfortunately some people here are already doing that.

I'm not blaming Jennifer Davidson for anything. It would be silly to try and scapegoat one individual for the decline of an entire channel, especially since Ms. Davidson has only recently acquired her position as VP. Plus, she has superiors to answer to as well. I doubt that CN will change much under Davidson's regime, but I don't put the sole blame on her. CN was messed up long before Ms. Davidson became the veep. The entire senior staff is to blame.
