Tonight's episode synopsis, from tv.com:
To impress a girl, Bobby protests against soda machines in the school. However, since the teachers have been using the drink machine money to pay for their "retreat", they decide to fight back. See you at 8:30 PM/7:30c!

In related KOTH news, looks like last season's "Hair Today Gone Today" airs at 7 PM/6c.

Another classic one with quotable lines.

Bobby - I used to be thinner, and more mellow!

Random girl amongst murmurs - When was he thin?

Protesting is the last resort when all other channels of thought haven't worked. Unless you're the French or a Hollywood actor that has fallen on hard times and needs attention.

I loved the two old men.

"They've finally come to kill us."
"I liked it better back when you could stick them in factories."

EDIT: And Boomhaur getting pissed at Dale was hilarious. I liked those "quote journal" cutaways.

Wow, that was actually pretty great.

Another good episode. The quote journal has given me ideas ;)

An ok episode but Bobby isn't a particularly interesting character. He actually kind of annoys me.

HA, loved this episode. Bobby had a problem that didn't get too wacky (the whole protest thing getting out of hand was still handled fairly well) and the whole subplot was hilarious because I've been there before. This season rocks so far.

I love this show now, and it actually loves me back by not wasting my time. If you haven't started recording these, do so, because they'll never see DVD.

Is the Che Guevara fandom supposed to be a good thing or a bad thing? I know nothing about him.

This is why I like KotH. It managed to stay consistent in what eleven seasons (right?) Where even shorter shows tend to take huge drops in quality later on. Hill has taken a drop yeah but not as far as say Simpsons of Family Guy have. The Episodes still feel like the older ones, nearly just as good too.

Hank - Do you want to end up like George Clooney?

Bobby(looking ashamed) - No.

That one just made me laugh for no reason.

Eh, a below average KOTH to me. I don't know, just didn't really do it for me. Some funny lines here or there, but the plot isn't very inventive, and can't compete with last episode IMO.

A ***.

I didn't like this episode as much as last week's, mainly because the idea of Bobby trying to act like something he wasn't to impress his girlfriend was pretty similar to Family Guy's "You May Now Kiss the, Uh, Guy Who Receives". Not saying KOTH was copying FG, but I was still left with deja vu.

Though I will say that the way Hank got the protesting students to leave Strickland Propane was great, telling them to tell the cops they're under 18 (or was it 21?) so they can be let out of juvie in a few years. Hank always knows just what to say. :D

Well that doesn't mean they'll never be on DVD, does it? Just not for a really long time, I guess...

Is the Che Guevara fandom supposed to be a good thing or a bad thing? I know nothing about him.

All trendy young anarchists consider Che Guevara a hero to them, though most of them really know nothing about him and just wear shirts with his face on it because all their friends do.

That whole line Hank gave about how his dad liked seeing hippie protesters get beat up by cops and sprayed with water hoses made me feel a little uneasy (read your history), but the episode was alright.

It's in line with Cotton's character.

Still, I could definitely see Cotton doing that.

Both Cotton and Hank are pretty much conservatives though. I'm sure there are conservative protesters in existence, but we usually look at liberals as "hippie protesters."

Also, it's the 2nd time I see a toon character wearing a Che Guevara t-shirt (Kyle was the 1st one I saw with it in the SP episode "Die hippie, die")

And I spotted this French article about the Che at http://www.lexpress.fr/info/monde/dossier/cuba/dossier.asp?ida=460199 it's a interesting read and it's far from a myth to some eyes.

I think there was a bit of a dip in quality a couple of seasons ago, but starting with last season, they've really been picking it up.

I'm glad they didn't stay canceled, if only Family Guy could've come back half as well as this.

Uh huh.

I'm not trying to defend this episode because I thought it was par for the course for KOTH, but KOTH has been doing these types of storylines even before FG first appeared. If anything, that's my problem with it; I've seen it on KOTH before, several seasons ago.

I'm just saying it was similar to an episode of another show I watched recently, especially since both were about the son of the family trying to impress a girlfriend who's into politics/protests. The execution of both (not to mention the conclusion) was very different, though.

Ah, poor Bobby, left out of the whole coupling scene and then swept away in protest madness. That was a pretty good episode, and I loved the subplot with Dale and the quotes. Kinda wondering if we'll ever see Joseph with that girl again.

That's true, it's insane how King of the Hill is able to keep this up. Many shows can't even get half those seasons without losing something.

Wow, I now have so much more respect for Cotton Hill...I'd have paid to see that, too!

Uhm...yeah..Che Guavara was, if I'm not mistaken, a revolutionary for Castro. So I now officially pronounce that babe that Bobby wanted as Josephine Stalina :D

What I also liked in this episode was the parallels between Bobby's classmates and the teachers- and the Baby Boomer generation & THEIR parents.

I also liked what a hypocrite the girl wound up being toward the end( she mentioned wanting to go to Disney World, and loads of hamburgers, which totally contradicts everything she's "against"), and how she mentioned her father was dating the top student in the class who claimed "public school teaches about commercialism and consumption"- that was priceless.

I'm not gonna go any deeper into politics, cause this isn't the forum for it.

I'll just say it was very well done, and King of the Hill is definitely earning a spot on my list of All Time Favorite TV shows. It really is keeping up where other shows crash and burn.
