Since artist Alex Toth designed and drew all the original Space Ghost characters AND the Sealab 2020 characters that Williams Street is now liberally using (to put it mildly) in SGC2C and Sealab 2021, it would be amusing to know if he has seen these shows and if so, what he thinks of them.

Since Toth didn't think much of Space Ghost in the first place (he said in an interview once he was pressured into drawing a "Batman-like" character by Hanna-Barbera and Fred Silverman and what eventually ended up on TV was a bastardization of what he originally designed) I think he'd probably enjoy SGC2C.

But then again, he probably doesn't even watch TV.

(Don't ask me why I'm posting this. I'm stuck doing the nightshift at work and I'm extremely bored.)

Last I heard he was not happy about SGC2C.

Alex Toth is a bitter old man who believes cartoons should be for kids. He also loathes dark or sick humor shows like Sealab 2021 or Invader Zim, claiming that it's all garbage no matter how well drawn or written it may be.

Bitter? I think he is not...he's living pretty happily, and is pretty healthy, last I heard. I think he's just a natural grouch and complainer.

He is still, however, one of the best comic artists/cartoonists I've ever seen.

(Alex Toth) is still one of the best comic artists/cartoonists I've ever seen.

You are so right, Larry. He's right up there with the Will Eisners and Jack Kirbys of the world.

But yeah, from what rare interviews I've read of the man, he is more than a little on the "Curmudgeonly" side. (is curmudgeonly even a real word? LOL)
