Here was an actor who never said a word, yet this man was a true genius for over 50 years. In fact I can honestly say I actually met Mr. Marceau when I was just a Freshmen in High School in 1976.. And believe me watching this master mime was a true thing to watch.

Marcel Marceau is perhaps the world's Best mime.. The Master Mime as we could say. Just wearing white face paint, soft shoes and a battered hat topped with a red flower, the world-famous Marceau played the entire range of human emotions onstage for more than 50 years, never uttering a single word.

A French Jew, Marceau survived the Holocaust -- and also worked with the French Resistance to protect Jewish children.
His biggest inspiration was Charlie Chaplin. Marceau, in turn, inspired countless young performers -- Michael Jackson borrowed his famous "moonwalk" from a Marceau sketch, "Walking Against the Wind."

Marceau performed tirelessly around the world until late in life, never losing his agility, never going out of style. In one of his most poignant and philosophical acts, "Youth, Maturity, Old Age, Death," he wordlessly showed the passing of an entire life in just minutes.

But interestingly enough Marceau offstage, was famously chatty. “Never get a mime talking. He won’t stop,” Marceau once said.

and now even the silence is silent..The Master of Mime is up in heaven.. trying to get out of that invisible box so he can get his wings.

Do you remember a Best of Marcel Marceau record album with nothing but silence except for an audience applause clapping on each side of the record?

I remember he made a cameo in the Mel Brooks movie, Silent Movie. Ironically, he was the only character that ever spoke in the movie, and it was him saying "No!". Shame he passed away.
