Mwa ha haaaa!! I'm back home again and to lurking around the TTTP on occasion. What a great trip, and most enjoyable, but my Karma is giving me a good shot upon returning- I have had two weeks of basically stress-free relaxation, which I appreciated, but came back to be informed that I was permanently laid off from my job-
ON other news, I learned quite a few things while being in the Caribbean-
1. Most doors have four hinges, not three
2. "Bimbo" is the name of the popular bread
3. Everyone LOVES Tweety- there are images of him everywhere!
4. Kinder makes soap, not chocolate
5. When Porky stutters in Spanish, he sounds like a machine gun
6. There are a lot of European 6-year-olds that still have soothers
Their Cartoon Network seems to be an entirely different format. I watched "Laff-A-Lympics" every morning when it was raining- On every "Acme Hour" I saw, they showed at least ONE Speedy Gonzales cartoon (I finally saw "Message To Gracias"....) As far as I could see, their cartoons were all also uncut. (I'm basing this on seeing "Screwy Truant", "Great Piggy Bank Robbery", and "Bear and the Beavers" unedited.
Their translation dubbing is really kife, though- lots of times there's absolutely no soundtrack, just a Spanish voiceover making up a goofy-sounding talk over the cartoon. On "Kiddin' The Kitten" the English soundtrack was still playing, and the Spanish voiceover just drowned out the original track! There was even a Spanish voiceover of the kitten going "Meow"... :p
I also saw "Sniffles Bells The Cat" and his translated voice sounds exactly like Elroy Jetson in Spanish. Bugs' name remains, "Bugs Bunny", but Daffy is called "El Pato Lucas".
Anyway, vacations are nice, but I'm glad to be back.
P.S. Glenn and Soggy, please note my E-mail address has changed!! Could you drop me a line and let me know what's up, doc?
