Sonic's newest portable outing is here: Sonic Rush Adventure, sequel to the halfway decent-selling Sonic Rush, widely regarded as one of the best Sonic games since Sonic 3 and Knuckles.

I haven't played it myself, but everyone I've come across said it's just as good as the original, if not better. I'll be picking up my topic on Friday.

So, without further ado, discuss!

I've played and beat it recently, it's very fun. They've fixed a few things from the last game, IE bottomless pits lining each stage. The music is more remnecent of the genesis days. There are still a few problems, namely the arbitrary forcing of the player to replay stages to advance the story. Unlocking the movie test and sound test through tedius missions. Over all it was a good experience, and the wifi is fun.

I'm just glad they didn't pull a "Secret Rings" with this game (i.e., making it a loose retelling of previously established material such as a collection of traditional stories, "solid" gameplay and "varied" environments notwithstanding), otherwise I wouldn't have bothered with this game at all. That being said, this game along with the new Sonic Riders, and Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games could be either "hit or miss", but IMO, the upcoming BioWare developed Sonic RPG will determine what the franchise's future will be (i.e., whether future games should be contracted to 3rd party developers, or whether the franchise should simply go on hiatus).

Back to this game, though. I just finished the first act, but I have a good idea what "Captain Whisker" is all about...

Recently received this as a gift and it's alot of fun. Nice mix between free roaming and platform gameplay. I think too many games that have free roaming and customisation overstate it or don't offer much. It's rather nice to beat the base plot so you can secure enough materials to finally beat Johnny with your now beefed up waterbike.
Storyline wise it's pretty good too. Dimps must be on to something because like Blaze before her Marine is a pretty decent character, unlike some of the more useless additions to the Sonic family. I definetly appreciate the suprise reveal of Eggman. Yeah, it's another 'Eggman steals powerful ancient artifact' plot. But the Captain Whisker character adds a nice twist which helps actually give Eggman some genuine menace again. Also nice to see them bring in something that might be superior to the Emeralds in power. Seriously, the Emeralds have become a bit too powerful in recent games.

Maybe, but the Emeralds are only used at the end of the game. Back in Sonic 2 and 3, you could use them anytime as long as you had 50 rings.

I'm speaking in terms of plot. Something happened? The Emeralds did it. I'd like to see them handled better.
