You know, a few friends and I were talking about Master Chief yesterday, and one of them mentioned that our so called he could really be a she. After all, we have never seen MC's true face, and just because MC has a male voice does not mean it he/she could not be using a modifier of some kind. What do you guys think?

I don't think he's a woman. I think he's the guy from Marathon, though.

No. Read the books and you'll know.
There are female Spartan II's, though. The Master Chief isn't one of them.

What are the odds that Master Chief is actually a "robot" (and a "gay" one at that)? :anime:

Nah, too obvious. What if he's a gay bionic clone created from the combined DNA of Jesus and the Buddha?

Maybe it's just me, but at this point wouldn't making Master Chief a Halo just be trying to "pull a Samus". You know establishing this tough hero as a female just because we haven't seen his face. I doubt the halo creators have that in mind, and we may find out offically next week when the game releases. But unless it's actually in Halo 3 or something else offically halo related, I see no reason why Master Chief would be a woman. Hell he has more of a chance being Half Flood Alien then a women IMHO.

Whatever is under the Master Chief's helmet is the same thing that is in the briefcase in Pulp Fiction.

Well, we all thought the SPD A-Squad Red Ranger was a guy, thanks to having a male-sounded voice... that turned out to be female, with voice modulation. "Charlie" turned out to be a girl when B-Squad saved them...

I have NO doubt that Halo 3's story will drop some SERIOUS bomb-shells before the end... Like WHAT is going on with Cortana? But I REALLY don't think one of those bomb-shells is that Master Chief is a woman...

This is actually a very legit theory, if he is or not is yet to be known.

Gay? Nah. Remember there's some back and forth between Master Chief and Cortana on a past romance (I haven't read the books fully, so I can't say if they are just joking or not.) But I will say Cortana running loose in Master's Cheif's head would only strenghten that.
Besides the fact we KNOW he's a Cyborg, not a robot.

Now THAT I will agree on!
Here's what we know on Master Chief according to Halo 1, Halo 2, and the books.
His name is John, he's partly cyborg (mostly implants and the like, more human looking than Borg looking). and he is around 45 years old.
I just kind of think that if they DID make Master Chief a woman, there'd be too many Metroid comparisons, although a friend of mine joked it's Hillary Clinton under the helmet.

Master Chief a woman? Nah. Too obvious. Plus, Nintendo already pulled that with Samus Aran. If Halo tried it too, they'd just look like copycats.

the books already describes what the Chief looks like.
During the briefing in Halo: The Flood, the Chief is described as being tall with short hair, serious eyes, and strong features. His skin is "too white", testifying to the amount of time he spends in his armor. Inside his armor, the Master Chief stands about seven feet tall and weighs half a ton; without it, the Chief still stands 6 feet and 6 inches tall and weighs 287 lbs.

Hmmm, looks at Metroid, looks at Halo, except for one is exploration where as the other is all out shooting, Halo already is a copycat.

Uh, so you're saying every video game series involving a character in a helmut concealing they're idenity in space is a ripoff of Metriod? Because really that's the only real similarity Halo had with Samus's series. Remember Halo was being made before knowledge of Metriod Prime was known so all they knew of Metriod was from the NES/SNES games which was an exploration platformer semi shooter, but nothing like an FPS (espically with Halo's with the veichle battles and different type of weapons) that Metriod became in Metriod Prime. Not to mention the fact that the gameplay style (espically in the two games you're talking) about are so completley different calling them a copycapt is pretty insulting to both. Really if this is your evidence on why Master Cheif could be a female, it's not really conclusive at all. Not to mention you know believable.

I bet Master Chief is just ugly...that's why you can't see his face XD or at least he finds himself ugly.

Hmmm, looks at Metroid, looks at Halo, except for one is exploration where as the other is all out shooting, Halo already is a copycat. And your basing that fact on what exactly? Actually, using your logic, then Metroid is a knock off of Halo. Heck, Halo was announced and made before Prime. Prime was third person then became a FPS, so it must be a knockoff.

Uh, not so much. Halo was announced in 1999 and was in development before that. Prime came out in 2002. I don't see many similarities between Halo and the 2d Metroids, considering you can only carry two weapons in Halo and you don't gain new abilities to unlock areas and you are a soldier instead of a lone bounty hunter. Besides, its lineage is clearly the Marathon games, which go back even further.
People, please stop posting in Halo and FPS threads if you're going to keep posting the same tired, innacurate fanboyisms about how Halo is derivative and every single FPS is "just another Halo."
