View Full Version : Who from TZ will run CN? (Preliminary Round)

Last week, You're in charge of CN: DO SOMETHING! (http://forums.toonzone.net/showthread.php?t=197147) was started giving the Tonezone Community a change to tell everyone what THEY would do to make CN great.
Since this is the first time I'm doing this, I was VERY loose with the "suggested format". I gave many people the benefit of the doubt for their proposal layouts where many people had clearly defined layouts.
A lot of people put together some AWESOME proposals so now its time for Toon Zone to do a preliminary vote.
This is the PRELIMINARY Elimination round. In order for a Proposal to move onto the next round, it MUST carry at least 3 votes.
Everyone is allowed to vote to cast three votes but they all must be for different people.
To those who posted their proposals, you MAY NOT edit or amend them any further. From this point on, if any proposal is edited after 9/18, they will be automatically disqualified. Also, no late entries are allowed (Don't worry, we'll do this again sometime).
I know its a long task but before casting your votes, please consider reading through all the proposals and decide who has a better grasp on the problems and solutions to fix them.
Proposals:
In ABC order by user name
Listed below are complete or somewhat complete proposals. If you intended your 'suggestions' to be an actual proposal either consider formating as such or sending me a PM to review it.

I didn't take part of the your in charge thread much, just taking a peek every one in a while. But I'm kind of curious how this will play out.

To prevent further editing, why don't you request the lock of the other thread?
We're the Toon Zone, not Tone Zone. Fix please. I have no nomination, as I'm running for CN presidency here.

There's only one guy I'd pick from that list, and that's because he reminds me of myself.

Please don't vote for Sketch, he didn't submit a schedule, he doesn't count in this one.
I haven't made up my mind yet . . .

HOLD ON
You HAVE to pick from the list of proposals that are listed. Everyone in the TZ Community had a week to prepare and post a proposal.
If the person IS NOT on the list in the first thread, they CAN NOT be voted for.
Please Re-read the FIRST post before casting any votes.
Now lets try this again!

I think you should have made that a little more clear the first time around.
It's a mistake a few people made, so there was a little misinturpetation of the rules. Nothing to freak out about. But a least do now made it clear.

Here's my probing list
=================================
Votes go to
=================================
#1.) Beefy
#2.) Don East
#3.) macattack
/edit
After much thinking, I gotta go with the guys I think have a good proposal and I know have a passion for getting the network up to par (and I don't like voting for myself).
John's prop was very high in my consideration list, VERY HIGH.
=================================
Good Proposals
=================================
Beefy: The only thing this proposal lacks IMHO is a good lineup. There's defiantly thoughts of where everything should go but I'd like to see how Beefy wants to run the actual line up day for day.
Live action gone I like!
Better Frequency of Shows
Good grasp on shows
Don_East: Overall, I like the fact Don is pushing to ensure a few factions aren't running amok and returning to what CN WAS popular for.
Pushing to return to network roots
Limited showings
Working on blocks
John Dorian: I certainly like John's Proposal, my biggest problem is lack of long term, sustaining details. Also, the format does make it hard to follow.
GREAT GRASP on who needs to go bye, bye and what things need to be to change everything around fast.
Not too bad a schedule but my only problem is the rotation of the schedule. Basically is a mini-marathon each day. We've seen what happens when this is done and it never turns out well (case and point: Sci-Fi Channel).
kempobot: overall some risky business.
Some nice shake up in the schedule but I think some things are being pushed up a snige too much.
Knighthammer: What can I say, I like my own proposal
I hope my schedule block NEVER becomes reality; I'll never leave my house =(.
macattack: Overall, lots of things I like about this one.
Good demographic shake up
Push to get away from competing with others
TOO MUCH Classic Cartoons IMHO; we can do better with that time.
Road Runner: Defiantly some new creativity in this but I'm on the fence on some areas
The mere suggestion of Live Action scares me a bit, Fried Dynamite Staying and Toonami keeping its current layout as acceptable.
Anvil Awards sounds cool
Dedication to consistent scheduleing (big winner in my book)
Not sure what to think of your quality testing.
Spyro99: I agree with just about everything Spyro has to say about policies. They almost mirror mine. The only thing I don't like is it feels like there's far too much comedy in Spyro's Schedule and not enough variety.
I like the Premier Policy
I like the Block Policy
I like the Slogan
I dont know about the Logo / Name Change. Just for the record, that would be *REALLY* hard to pull off as it would require disbanding the network and re-creating (lovely legal issues with it). =================================
Good effort but lacked structure

It wasn't a freak out :p. I wanted to make sure everyone saw the "hold on" beyond any reasonable doubt.
Even re-reading the first post, it's pretty clear the intended people to be voted on are those who are listed below; I mean how could someone forfeit by editing a proposal if they hadn't posted one?
Anywho, carry on =)

Well would you look at that. I didn't even make a proposal and I still got votes. Hmm... maybe I should have made one but eh...
Jeff Harris

I should run it, but they won't let me anywhere near Techwood.
And for the record, I have written two previous proposals on how to improve the network, Checkerboard Confusion (http://www.thexbridge.com/check.html) and The Ameobazation of Cartoon Network (http://www.thexbridge.com/ameoba.html) in 2003 and 2005, respectedly.
I've pointed out what was wrong with the network and I have made guidelines.
On October 1, 2007, I'm presenting the second half of a third proposal. The first half has to do with the rebuilding of Boomerang because, quite frankly, the direction of Cartoon Network begins with the direction of Boomerang, and it's the most radical plan I have even written (here's a tease: Turner Broadcasting [as we know it] wouldn't be involved . . . at all). That will be on TXB this weekend.
Yes, there's a reason for October 1 as the date of the second half. It's the 15th anniversary of a network Ted Turner once called his greatest creation behind CNN but Time Warner AND Turner Broadcasting have both neglected for five years now, and that's a shame.
Before you consider a vote, wait for my proposal. I had to postpone writing it because I had a real world job (that I got paid for) I had to work on recently (thus, the lack of updates recently). But now, I have a little time between jobs, so I'll work on it.

After you mentioned you were working on a BIG one in the other thread, I figured yours would almost coincide with the completion of this poll/contest/debate seeing how your ideas roll with everyone else.
At the very least, theres some ideas that maybe perhaps you could gleam off from everyone else.
Either way, I do look forward to seeing yours and the next time around (doing this) I hope to see vast improvements over everyone who participated this time around and issue new ones next time around.

He sounds like he knows what he would do,and It would take a hellota reconstruction to get Cartoon Network back and running.

I think this whole thing would be simpler and easier if there was a poll and the OPTION to discuss the vote on the thread. Would prevent some of the errors people have been having.
I'm narrowing down my choices. Spyro, Beefy, Knight, John, and Don have good proposals and I have to think more carefully about all of them.

Probably true but some how this never happens in the Toonami forums when I use the same format =(.
I biggest reason I usually don't do it that way on the elimination round is to give people three votes; otherwise it doesn't give a good representation of how many people like what kind of setup.
I think some of the trouble with this run is its also the first time something like this was done. Sequential runs should be much smoother =).

Personally I didn't assume this would be a voting thing of any sort so I didn't check out the thread assuming it was just people tossing ideas around.

On Monday, September 17th, 2007, I'll start a nomination thread for who everyone believes should be in charge of CN and we'll vote on it. All proposals will be considered final and changing there after will disqualify you from votes.
Note, I only edited the post by adding proposals.
