Bandai has unveiled their plans for the Gundam series this year at Toy Fair 2002, and included in the plans is bringing the G-Gundam series and the "Char's Counterattack" motion picture to Cartoon Network in the Fall.

G-Gundam will be getting the biggest push from Bandai of all of their properties this year, including a merchandising campaign similar to the OYW Gundam toys.

To help merchandising, Bandai will be changing the names of the Gundams.

According to Newtype Asylum (http://www.newtype-asylum.com/news.htm), these are some of the confirmed and unconfirmed name changes for the G-Gundam series:

GF13-017NJII God Gundam - new name: Burning Gundam;
JDG-009X Devil Gundam - new name: Dark Gundam;

Unconfirmed new names:
GF13-021N Gundam Spiegel - new name Shadow Gundam;
GF13-003NEL Johnbull Gundam - new name: Royal Gundam;
GF13-052NT Minaret Gundam - new name: Gundam Scimitar;
GF4-001NE Pharoah Gundam IV - new name: Mummy Gundam;
Gundam Heaven Sword - new name: Raven Gundam; and
Death Army - new name: Dark Army.
With said name changes and merchandising in mind, it is apparent that G-Gundam is going to Toonami.

However, it's not known where "Char's Counterattack" will be airing just yet. TZ will try to find out confirmation soon. "Char's Counterattack" is what could have been considered the Gundam finale of sorts, at the time when it was made(1988). It serves to wrap up the events of MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM, ZETA GUNDAM, and GUNDAM ZZ nicely.

In related news, be sure catch GUNDAM 0083: STARDUST MEMORY when it airs on ADULT SWIM ACTION on February 23rd. GUNDAM 0083 will carry a TV-PG rating and contain violent situations and mild language.
