I think it is time that one of the regular cast find out about Clark's secret. I am torn between who should find out. Here is my choices and why??

CHLOE- If she knew I could see her getting Clark to use his powers to help with her investigations. It would also cause her all kinds of conflict. For example she is a reporter who has to sit on the story of the century. And how she would know Clarks secret. But, he wouldn't know of her secret. Which is her feelings for him.

LANA-If she knew it would explain his always running off. Thus explaining all the times he left her hanging when they were together. In the comics she knew his secret and it caused her a lot of problems. Because, she loved Clark not Superman.

In the end though. I think I would pick Chloe. It would add numerous new story plots and yet would not ruin the love triangle relationship between Clark, Lana and Whitney.

Or, instead, Smallville could go crazy and not do what every other superhero show has regretfully done.

Well, since Lana knew Clark was Superman in the comics, I think it would be a pretty logical choice to have her find out in Smallville. It looked like in Leech that Clark really, really wanted to tell her when he took her necklace.

However, if Lex found out, I think that would lead to the most gripping storylines.

I think it will happen, but not yet. Too soon. Maybe as a season two cliff-hanger ending: Lex knows...

Terminatah,
Normally, I might agree with your response. But, it just seems like unlikely that Clark has these powers and does things and nobody finds out. Especially, Chloe is researching all the unexplained events. But, what do I know. Lois Lane who is a top reporter couldn't tell Clark from Supes because of some glasses. ;)

Just as long as they don't turn Chloe into a Max if she finds out.

I was thinking the exact same thing.

Allowing Lex to find out would provide for some very interesting stories, but it would ruin the Superman history. If they had to let someone find out I would give my vote to Chloe, but I think the show is better off with none of them knowing.

Well, Superman history is already being tweaked a bit for this show. As close as Lex and Clark are, how could he ever not know?

I'd want to see Chloe or Lana find out. And since Lana does find out in the comics and cartoon, it should just be here again. It would make sense for it to happen in the shows last season. Not necessarily the last episode, but one of the last ones. Either she finds out on her own finally, and he actually tells her. I don't really care which way, just as long as it happens.

Lana would make the most sense...I'm not a diehard Super-fan, but I do know she knows on the animated series, and it WOULD explain a lot. Then again, you can't tell her now - they need to keep that bit of inner-conflict in the show to keep it interesting.

Aside from the Kents and that hermit guy with "persuasive powers", it seems the only one that seems to have any idea of Clark's powers is Lex...and that's not good. (Though it does set up same great possibilities in future episodes.)

If Bruce Wayne finds out next season...somehow...that would be cool. Then again, it would also be cool to see neither of them know, because neither of their skills are developed yet...and, of course, "Batman" doesn't even exist at that point. (You think Alfred would pop in WITH Master Bruce, too? You never know.)

PS - What to Superman fans generally think of the show? Aside from chronic "freak of the week" syndrome (which they're fixing now, thank god), I think it's a great show, despite the creative differences between that and the comics.

(But it's always nice to see Vancouver, my hometown, be used as a backdrop for both Smallville AND Metropolis. Next...GOTHAM! :) )

Lana should be the one to find out. It would explain why he's always leaving her, he never wanted to but had to, so she starts to fall for him. Remember she told Clark that she's only with Whitney because he's there when she needs him?

If someone has to find out, it should be Lana who figures it out. If Chloe figured it out she would turn into max. The characters are too similar for this not to happen. However I don't think that Lana finding out should happen until close to the end of the series. I think that someone, besides Clark's parents, should know. It would make the series more interesting. But none of the present characters seem like they could handle it all that well.
It would probably be better if a new character, someone that is more of a kindred spirit to Clark should find out. I like the idea of Bruce Wayne, but unfortunately he's not Batman yet. But i'm not a writer, maybe the show's writers can figure something out.
