Mahjong Time (http://www.mahjongtime.com) is an online Mahjong parlour where people all over can play competitive Mahjong. I'm interested in playing this 4 player version of Mahjong but I don't want to have pay money for each session. However, the site boasts about free membership and that you would only have to pay for money if you choose to compete in a tournament.
Could anyone here give me a second opinion on whether I can actually play 4 player Mahjong for free on this site? I think the FAQ is a bit of a mess.
Thanks. :)

Typically, a free membership on a pay-site isn't that great.
Your whole experince is stripped down and often vastly limited. And IF you can win money off this site, I'm sure it's mostly in the tournaments...
I'd probably stick with Yahoo, unless that is classic 2-player and you REALLY want to try a 4-player version. Just do all the computer check progtams afterward.

I do play the Yahoo version from time to time.
As for Mahjong Time, one of my friends pointed out that it is free provided that you don't participate in tournaments. So my question has been answered.
The only complaint I have about Mahjong Time is that it tends to follow mostly the hands based on Hong Kong rules and not use the specific notation related to japanese rules. Other than that minor nitpick, it's pretty good. :)
