I got a new Avatar!

And I gotta question. Why are they called Avatars ? An Avatar is bringing someone back from the dead. At least that's what my dictionary says.

Would you believe that I recently had a discussion with my pal Justin at work about the same thing. As we work in a bookstore, I decided to look it up in a dictionary and found this:
an incarnation in human form; a variant phase or version of a continuing basic entity

Justin didn't quite understand this (he thought The Blair Witch Project was true). I think it sort of makes sense but I couldn't put it into words before our boss said to quit screwing around and start doing some shelving.

Now that I think of it, it kind of makes sense. An Avatar could be interpreted as our visual manefestaion on the board. If we were to each use one avatar all the time, without really changing it, we would come to recognize that person by their avatar to some extent.
