Preview seemed to be in english, so I'd assume it wouldn't have any.

If you need subtitles, there's always the option on the Dvd.

The movie comes out on Friday in the US. I was just curious. I saw the preview on TV with the sound off and was like, that looks cool...and bad.

I was curious why you were asking about sub-titles, so I just looked it up online, and now I'm confused. The film was Korean-produced, yet features an American cast and was shot in America? So is this considered an Asian film being given a US release, or a US film with an Asian director?

I'd never heard of this movie until a week ago, but the ads looks cool and the special effects appear pretty decent, and I thought I might go see it because it looked fun. But if it's got subtitles, I'm not so sure now.

Yes.

How does it work then for the English-speaking cast members, since I imagine they probably don't speak Korean. Did they just do their lines in English, then have them dubbed into Korean for release in Asia, while their lines will be restored for the US release?

This movie is Korean? I didn't know that. Well, it looks cheesily terrible regardless.

Thats what confused me. I saw the preview and was like.. Ha that looks like a fun B-Movie.. but then I look it up online and it'd the highest budgeted Korean film ever and earned 20 million in 5 days.. but it has American actors and I was like, wait, what ? My head hurts.

According to IMDB boards the movie is in English.
I'll watch it once it comes to DVD. When I first saw the preview I thought it was going to be a SciFi channel original movie.

I could probably assume so, but I have no idea for sure.

You're probably right.

Subtitles are your friends :).

Hong Kong cinema did that for many years as well.

The movie was shot in the US with american actors and done in english to increase international appeal.

Cause let's face it, no one wants to see a bunch of asian people speaking some scary weird language when everyone knows english already, or at least knows that the film must be from America, therefore hip and cool.

Pan's Labyrinth would like to disagree with you.

Concerning Dragon Wars, the buzz in Korea is that this movie has pretty good special effects and very little else...sounds like the Korean version of Phantom Menace to me.

I'm not wanting to see this movie in hopes of a great story. I'm wanting to see it in the hopes of some cool action scenes with dragons beating the crap out of each other (which it looks like it has plenty of). :D

Subtitles are the ultimate suck.

Then you're cheating yourself out of some phenomenal movies ;).

Shim Hyung-rae's resume is, shall we say, less than stellar.

Maybe so... but I have to multi-task. Multi-tasking is bad, when it comes to me.
