Nuff said what are the best animated fights in anime?

Rock Lee VS. Gaara is is one of the best animated fights ever made. Which is sad, because it's pretty much in the first half of Naruto and they haven't had a fight that has rivaled it since.

Ichigo vs Grimmjow (first fight) was really well-animated.

Chun Li vs. Vega in the Street Fighter II movie: I know people that would pay money to have a girl that hot step on their face, but Vega didn't seem too happy about it. And she threw her sofa at him. What martial arts style was that? Who cares? It rocks.

The opening battle in Karas: The Prophecy. Possibly the best CGI anime I've seen yet.

Ra-oh vs Juuza in Fist of the North Star: It's as overmatched as it looks, but damn, that Juuza kept pulling tricks out of his hat!

Goku vs. Freiza: It may not be the best 14 episodes of that show, but it was the longest. Talk about a neverending story!

I'm going to have to second the Street Fighter II fight with Chun-Li and Vega. I can't believe I didn't mention that in my first post. One of the most thrilling and brutal fights with a hot chick ever. I'm not one for women myself and even I was like, "Holy ****, she is awesome." That and I always loved their portrayal of Vega.

Have to agree with Undrave, too. The fight between Kurapica and Ubogin was absolutely awesome.

laactor101's question was best ANIMATED fights. Some may say that animation is something everyone has a different opinion about, which is true. But the basic actual movements of a character can easily be judged in what looks good and fluid, and what dosen't. None of Digimon's fights had that at all (Espically in the first season) and that certainly wasn't one of them. This is for best animated fights, not best fights you like because it's two hot female digital mosnters wailing on each other.

From what I've seen on AMVs the Naruto Vs Sasuke fight (the last one at the end of the Sasuke Retrival Arc specfically) are really well animated. And seem to actually last for the full fight as well. They did seem to go all out on that one despite the slew of fillers afterward (which I guess should be blamed on needing to catch up to the manga not the animation spent on the fight).

Does it have to be human vs. human? Because when I saw this topic I had to stop and think and I ultamatly recall being absolutly wowed by the fight scene between Asuka and the Mass Produced Evas, pure brilliance!

From Rurouni Kenshin, Kenshin vs. Saitoh is one of the all time greats in my book. The animation for that still holds up very well, I think.

Amuro vs. Char in Char's Counterattack is a great example of a well done mecha battle.

There's also that crazy fight between Nagato and her subordinate in The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. It was short but they really made it count.

Fate/Stay Night has some awesome fights. Archer vs. Berserker is great, Saber vs. Rider was amazing to look at, and any fight involving Gilgamesh was very badass.

I'd have to put in another vote for Chun Li vs. Vega. That's been some of the best straight-up fighting I've seen in any anime. No fireballs, no impossible flying through the air, just some really fancy choreography/cutting, full animation, and hard hits. Plus the cramped quarters and Vega's menacing look, even when hidden behind his trademark mask, made for some great tension.

I'd also put in a vote for Sanji vs. Mr 2 in One Piece's "Trading Faces". I remember remarking in the talkback that the fight scene had some amazing animation for TV- so full and yet such wacky, exaggerated attacks.

Spike vs Vincent from the Cowboy Bebop movie, come on, it was an awsome classic kung fu fight.

Baki vs i cant think of his name from the Grappler Baki OVA. Its pretty tough to see someone get thier nerves torn and still win.

Spike and the fat guy in the ep of Perrot Le Fu in Cowboy Bebop. Having a good ol shoot out at a kids theme park sets the stage for an action paced episode (still one of my favorites to this day)

Pretty much every MS battle in the Gundam 0083 ova.

The fight with Heero and Miliardo in the Libra space station on the last ep of Gundam Wing

Kenshin vs Saito in the dojo battle

Kenshin vs Shishio

Seabrook vs Iron Mask the final battle in Gundam F91

Judau vs Haman Karn in Double Zeta Gundam

Uso vs The Zanscare Empire in the last episodes of Victory Gundam

Domon vs the Devil Gundam in God Gundam last episode

Terry Bogard vs Geese Howard in the first Fatal Fury OVA, as well as Terry vs Wolfgang Krauser in the second OVA, and heck, Terry vs that god in the Motion picture as well.

McCloud vs Marcus in the Higlander anime

Jubei vs Gamma in Ninja Scroll, as well as Jubei vs that Rock guy too.

ah, and one of my personal faves, Priss vs Largo in "Red Eyes" in the Bubblegum Crisis OVA, cant forget an episode where Priss get the crap beaten outta her and still lives to take out Largo.

God, theres so many to choose from, but thats my basic list of what i can think of...

Gamabunta vs. Shukaku
Tsunade vs. Orochimaru - that was the best fight in history by seeing Tsunade beating that sick psychotic freak which he had it coming.

I second Kenshin v. Saitou and Spike v. Tomfou, and have to also suggest Ed v. Greed from FMA. Both significant to the story and just plain brutal, with full animation to boot.

-Strike vs. Aegis in Episode 30 of Gundam SEED.
Wait, wasn't that the one where they just used a bunch of still frames of the Gundams having their limbs chopped off?

Teresa vs. the death squad in episodes 7 and 8 of Claymore. It's too bad that the animation has gone downhill since then (although the choreography is often still good.)

Norris vs. the 08th Team is one of the best Gundam fights ever, but I actually don't remember if it was animated that well. This gives me an excuse to watch it again.

Definitely my top pick.Cant for get the opening for the episode, with the bodyguards being taken out and Spike doing his best to kill the fat man. As a matter of fact, that was my very first episode of Cowboy Bebop when AS first started, and well have liked the series ever since then...

08th MS Team was a twelve episode OVA produced over a period of five years; it has consistently gorgeous animation. And that battle is certainly a highlight.

I'll add another vote for the Norris battle. Well animated and well thought out. I love Norris using the heat rod as a winch to descend down a building.

Bebop definetly had some awesome fights. Haven't seen the movie, but the series always struck me for how fluid and lifelike the action scenes were.

Can I add Goku vs Frieza for the hilarious "I'm gonna slap some sense into you!" scene?

Well Im guess I will be thbe first to vote for Valley of the end between Naruto and Sasuke. I mean it had everything already set-up in place for the two former best friends to go at each other like that.

Nuff said what are the best animated fights in anime? In technical hand to hand combat, I would say the best fights would be the fights in anime the Cowboy Bebop movie between Spike and Electra, and the last fight between Spike and Vincent in the steel tower. The fighting scenes were clear and straight forward with NO bluring multiple strikes/blocks like you see in DBZ or Ranma 1/2.

Though I would say the fight between Ken and Vega in SFV was very good. With Ken fighting more conventional hand to hand combat versus Vega extreme form of combat that was a mixed of low quick kick strikes to Ken's shins and knees, with arial attacks using his (Vega's) claw weapon.

I'll second Amuro versus Char in Char's Counterattack... actually, that whole movie has some of the most epic mecha action ever, and on a very large scale, too. Modern animation techniques? Pah, Tomino's sense of crazy green sparkly things is still awesome. Granted that wasn't really from the fight (though I liked the effect from the Sazabi's waist-mounted cannon), but even so.

ALL of episode 15 of Gurren Lagann. Culminating, of course, with Simon versus Lord Genome, because -that- was an amazing fight. Seriously, that show just gets progressively more epic, though it's a bit hard to trump the giant fight scene finale to the first half of the series while we're still working up to the finale of the second half, so I'd still put this above most of what we've had since, with the possible exception of episode 22 (unless my numbers are wrong).

And... even though it sort of contradicts what I just said, I've always really loved the fight with just the Lagann against the Ganmen from the first episode. The effect on the Lagann smashing through the thing's giant club was great, and the fight scene ended with a really great scenery shot as Simon sees the surface for the first time.

And Kenshin versus Saito -was- pretty cool.

The Chun Li/Vega apartment fight is pretty killer, with cool editing, moves, and animation. Best parts: Throwing Couch style of Kung Fu:D, and when Chun Li ends the fight by kicking Vega through a wall.

The best fights animation wise in Naruto are Rock Lee Vs. Garra, Naruto vs. Garra, and the Sannin Battle Royale. This is because the regular animators, who normally do a good job, are given a higher budget and pull off some really cool stuff. Sure, the 'movie-style' animation in the Forest of Death fight between Sasuke and Orochimaru and the Third Hokage vs. Orochimaru fight is pretty cool, but they sacrifice the art style for fluidity.

Easily the best fight I've ever seen animated was the climatic dogfight of Isamu vs. Guld in Macross Plus. Everything about it just works. The epic music, the quick yet still focused actions of the jets, the one-up in-fight dialogue, not to mention one of the trademark shots that made Macross Plus great.

If there is one fight I'd watch over and over again, it would be that one. It's beautiful, intense, and emotional all at the same time without being forced.

Gotta agree with you there man. Nothing like Classical music playing while your having a good ol' dogfight to settle a score once and for all.

Thats just from what i heard from my friends at the time. Its just afterwards the series goes into Soap Opera drama after episode 30 and the story goes into some other dimenstion. Of course ive heard worse from Destiny too.

WOW, 5 years to make 08th MS Team. I knew it was on Hiatus for a while because one of the people working on the OVA died midway, but never knew it took that long to make. Of course i still think the last episode is the best way to sum up that series, too bad CN didnt show it, it was probably to dramatic and what not to show at the time...

Bah you're all wrong, Mugen and Jin versus Kariya (hell that entire three parter) was the best fight of all time. I wish I could pick more but there are some in Samurai Champloo that are very, very good.

Yusuke vs. Hiei from Yu Yu Hakusho was fairly awesome. Later YYH fell into the standard shonen trap of merely adequate animation, but watching Hiei pummel Yusuke from all directions without any looping whatsoever was a sight to behold.

I'm going to say the first part of the fight betwwen Kenichi and Odin
in ep 48 of History's Greatest Disciple. The animation was so clear and fluid during their attacks. It was great.
