- Apparently Ric Flair quit WWE earlier this week. The possible departure from the company doesn't have anything to do with the recent WWE drug scandal, but sources say he's just frustrated with his push and hasn't received any encouraging communication from WWE management.

As of now WWE hasn't given Ric Flair his release. WWE management are trying hard to get Flair to cool down and not quit the company. Discussions are going on to sort things out because WWE really doesn't want Flair to leave. I'm surprised, and yet I'm not.
The talent exodus continues.
So, Vince, how about callin' up that Next Generation Hart Foundation?

(PS, can a mod fix the title of this thread, I suck at grammar and life. Thank you.)

I wouldn't get too excited just yet. I fully expect this to be resolved. Flair is apparently frustrated, but I don't think he wants to go out like this. I doubt WWE wants to let him go either.

And the for the record, I will find and personally knock out the first person who says he should to go to TNA.

Honestly if he could go to TNA to have a retirement match with Sting, that'd be pretty cool. :anime:

Personally, I think Slick Ric's final match should be against Randy Orton. Yep, Ric should be the "Legend" who finally takes "The Legend Killer" to school. :D

Though a retirement match against Sting has its merits too..... *Hides from the Penguin*

Anyways, let's hope they resolve this soon....

I'm shocked at this since Flair is a HHH/Michaels crony. But then again,. Flair wrestled a dark match at Mania, and for the most part has had little to no impact as of late in the WWE. The last great thing being his promo at Carlito earlier this year.

Not to mention, he's probably the favorite to be inducted in the WWE HOF next year and that is very prestigous. So hopefully both sides will resolve their differences.

Wow! Definitely wasn't expecting that. If it's true, good for Ric, though! He's taken more than enough abuse from WWE creative... At this rate, though, you have to wonder whether there'll be anyone left on the roster in two week's time.

One big reason WWE doesn't want to release Flair is because TNA wouldn't hesitate to sign him. Flair's one of those players that Jarrett would love to have on his roster to give TNA some credibility.

I've read that Flair is unhappy with his current push on Smackdown. The last we saw, he'd been squashed by Great Khali, and hasn't been seen since. They could've done the right thing for him and given him the Raw GM's job, but they went with Will Regal instead (another HHH ally), a move they're now regretting with Wills on the shelf for 30. Flair would've been just as much an improvement as Regal over Waylon Smithers Coachman.:D Whoooooooo!!!!

As we reported yesterday evening, Ric Flair gave his notice to WWE because he was unhappy with the direction of his character; however, the two sides are still in talks in an attempt to patch things up.

We are now able to confirm that Flair actually gave notice that he would be leaving a few weeks ago, far before reports of the Signature Pharmacy steroid scandal broke. Flair knows that he is near the end of his legendary career, but he is still sick and tired of the way that he has been used in the company. With all of the recent suspensions (on top of the already thin roster from injuries), Flair’s bargaining position within the company has certainly improved for WWE [/URL]to offer him a bigger role.

WWE is doing all that they can to get Flair back and are even working under the assumption that they will be able to patch things up. One source told us that Flair has been dealing with some personal issues involving his children lately which have affected his mood.-[U]WNW (http://www.wrestlingnewsworld.com/1/2/wwenews/even_more_details_on_ric_flair_wanting_to_quit_wwe.php#)

I remember reading that Flair planned on retiring after WM24. Frankly, I've been a little sore with the way they've been mishandling him. Other than a brief IC title reign, great feuds with Edge and Foley, and a four second tag title reign just to give the belts to Rated RKO, they really haven't been utilizing him in any meaningful ways. And moving him to SmackDown was a horrible move if you ask me. I realize that Flair is past his prime, but for a 16-time champion to get squashed by the GREAT KHALI of all people?

This is so lame. =\

He really should *actually* retire. That would be a happy day. But nooo... they're just going to futz around for a while.

Penguin, I think I could take you ;), so I'm gonna go ahead and say I think Flair at TNA would be interesting. Not only do they have his old nemesis Sting, but Smackdown isn't doing much of anything with him. And let's be honest, TNA could use him, and would use him.

Too bad they didn't put him in the hall of fame last time around. He really should retire. He can't contribute anything more than he already has.

Here's why Ric Flair is possibly gone from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter:

Flair quit after having his big retirement angle shot down numerous times. Austin was pissed that Flair wasn't going to be at Mania this past year, and he came up with an idea to build to Flair's retirement at Mania 24. Basically, Flair would lose a match, snap, and claim that the next time he lost he would retire. He would then go onto a winning streak that would cross over all three brands, with guys trying to be the guy to beat Flair, and Flair finally losing in a high profile match, possibly for a belt, at Mania, with him getting into the HOF the night before.

Vince was said to have loved the idea, and when pitching it he mentioned it was Austins, and the decisions were made to go ahead with the angle. That, obviously, never happened, and that initially pissed flair off. Once he was moved to Smackdown, the idea was to push him as the Babe Ruth of Wrestling, but that never happened either. The retirement angle was, again, brought up, but never moved on. Flair was also pissed about being left off the Columbia SC taping, because he could have been the second most over guy there, and also about losing clean to Finlay. Also, Flair was upset with Triple H saying that Flair can't beat top guys at his age because it is a credibility issue.

Flair is said to be content with staying away and getting his finance business off the ground. Vince is pissed because Flair owes him money from when Vince helped him with the IRS and his court charges.

THat was actually a decent idea that Austin brought up. Although it is a bit convulted. But the payoff would've been nice.

Once again, HHH is in the wrong with his comments. I guess that would put a dagger on Flair coming back perhaps.

Now apparently Flair has gone on record saying he didn't quit... Strange...

That sounds like a great angle! I would love to see that! I want to see that!!

That angle sounds INCREDIBLE. It's no surprise why creative won't go through with it, it's just too far above them.

Apparently Ric isn't quitting...or so he says. We'll have to see how this plays out. Maybe WWE decided they were better off trying to cater to him since they are hemorrhaging talent like NUTS right now.

That leads me to one other thing about Flair -- when was the last time they let him cut a REALLY GOOD Flair promo? It's too far to count.

Before Wrestlemania, when Flair yelled at Carlito for leaving before the main event. And a lot of the promos in the Foley feud of last year were great, particlarly the one with him fighting a book. But yeah, its a bit sad that he hasn't done much of those promos in the duration of his WWE stint.
