First of all, some of you may have noticed I've particpated or started some manga discussions. Up until recently I only collected a few titles, and didn't have as many containers for them. But since finding out the comic store sells boxes for mangas, my interest in buying them have gone up. Anyway:

1. How many anime adaptations have been published in the state? I believe so far there's been Digimon, Zero Two and Frontiers as well as a Rave Master anime adapted into a manga.

2. Some titles I planned to collect were the Digimon volumes and Marmalade Boy, but those have been canceled, so I'll probably have to go on ebay or hope some stores have spare copies. But how often if any do mildly successful titles go back into print?

Thanks

Not very often. If a title's been out of print for years, it's unlikely that it'll be reprinted because the license has probably expired. It's always possible that another company will pick up the license and re-release the series, but that usually only happens if the manga is a well-known classic (like Crying Freeman) or if the first release was infamously botched (Parasyte).

So where would you say Marmalade Boy and Digimon rank on the popularity scale. I figure with a new season, Digimon mangas would garner some republishing.

Since Digimon is a franchise, maybe the odds are in it favor. I don't follow the series so I can't say how well it did.

Marmalade Boy has its fanbase, but I don't think it ever sold as well as other shoujo titles like Kare Kano or Peach Girl. Tokyopop's license expired in 2005. If it's ever re-released, it'll probably be licensed by Viz, since its original Japanese publisher, Shueisha, now owns Viz.

Thanks for the imput.

To you or anyone else, are there any oneshot mangas you'd recommend, that are still in print in the US of course. Figure it would be good for the variety I'm going for.

Actually, the anime was adapted from the manga.

Not sure about that, but I've had no problem finding copies of the Digimon manga in stores. Note that some stores have moved them from the manga section into the kid's reading section.

As for one-shot mangas, I really enjoyed Akira Toriyama's Sandland, myself.

Yume Kira Dream Shoppe by Aqua Mizuto (Viz Media's Shojo Beat line;it's a recent release,so you shouldn't have too much trouble finding it)...a one-volume series (four chapters, each involving a different character)....It's about a shop where your dreams can come true....if you give up something dear to you....All the stories are connected by the recurring characters Rin,the shopkeeper, and Alpha,a talking plush rabbit that works there....

I loved the artwork, and the stories were really beautiful (I cried a couple times while reading)...
