Haven't seen this show. Can't say I'm in a big hurry, though.

Yeah, Tsubasa certainly isn't flawless compared to the manga. I do however like it's soundtrack, but the score during the show is horribly off rhythm. And because of being introduced to TRC via anime first (the dub), I suffer while I enjoy it. >_>
...On a lighter note, the second season was slightly improved and FUNI's should be licensing Tokyo Revelations...but we'll have to wait for that...

My opinion in short: its not bad, but it could have been so much better.
The thing is, .hack was better done than this. .hack//sign was extremely dialogue driven and had a rather complex mystery that pretty much forces the viewer to pay close attention. It had some action but it was never the point and that was generally understood.
Tsubasa is basically supposed to be an adventure story. The .hack format really is not compatible with that. In my opinion it starts off well in the first episode, but then it takes its time. If every episode were like the first it would've been so much better off.
The show looks good but it doesn't match up to the art of the manga. So many modern shows in the last 2-3 years have shown how great modern anime can look. They could've matched the manga and made it look stunning in motion, but they took a more limited approach. If real resources & effort had been put into the action it would be much easier for people to get past the pacing issues.

I think Tsubasa could've been more fun, had it been done by another studio then Bee Train. Bee Train isn't bad, but the studio's style doesn't fit the actiony-shonen oriented story of Tsubasa.

Which may be why they don't have the OVA series.
I'm still surprised that Madhouse didn't get Tsubasa since they were the animation studio who did two of CLAMP's more successful works (Cardcaptor Sakura and Chobits).

Yep, bout time my cries of "They turned it to .hack" got heard.
I even submitted a rather scathing review of the show which basicly summed the whole deal up as a) taking too long to get moving from point to point, b) having the music take center stage (Which is "Bad dog, no biscit" terrrorory right there) and c) Cutting out the best gags from the manga [Drunk Sakura, Neva Forget]
Also, the Kudan were a totaly missed point by Bee Train, they're a take on the Stands from JoJo's Bizzare Adventure (a series Clamp have previously expressed thier love of) so where in the manga the Kudan fights were these elaberte, frantic battles in the series, they've been reduced to shootouts(?) at best.
Overall, Bee Train utterly suck for making a mess out of .hack, sorry, Tsubassa and I wish P. IG all the best in realizing the Acid Tokyo arc.
