Question about Black Canary(& Birds of Prey)?....

Does Black Canary still have her sonic scream?? And will she have it in the new show?

For a long time, Black Canary did not have the sonic scream following an apparently infamous scene in which she was brutally tortured in the pages of Green Arrow, if my memory serves as correct. I have never read the issue in question, but from the way fans talk about it, it must've been awful.

However, in the pages of BIRDS OF PREY, Chuck "I Can't Write My Way Out Of A Paperbag" Dixon put Dinah in a one of Ra's al Ghul's Lazarus Pits and she came back out with the sonic scream. Honestly, I didn't read that issue either, but that's what I hear. :)

I'm not sure what they're doing with Dinah in Birds of Prey, the TV show. The way I've been understanding things, she's not going to be in it at all! It's going to be Oracle and Huntress. This doesn't make sense, because then why call it "Birds of Prey," but that's the sense I got from the ToonZone news updates about thet series. Someone please prove me wrong!

That's what I thought, too, but Dinah Lance has been cast. Rachel Skarsten got the role. I seriously doubt they'll do the sonic scream thing, since their changing a lot as it is. But we shall see...

The original announcement stated that Dinah would be a minor role, but would still be a series regular. No word on what, if any, powers she'll have.

If Dinah was the reason why they were called the "Birds" of Prey, then I'd think it'd be called "Bird of Prey and Computer Geek" =8^).

I'm pretty sure the scene where Dinah lost her sonic scream was in Mike Grell's The Longbow Hunters, which sort of revived Green Arrow for the 90's. The scene just seemed gratuitously violent, IMO, (it was followed by Oliver sending an arrow through the torturer's throat), but it served the plot purpose of showing GA and BC were in something really deep.

As for the Barbara Gordon casting announcements, I think I'm leaning towards Dina Meyer, but only because Brandy Ledford was so horribly unnecessary, unused, and not especially good in The Invisible Man.

The show may still not suck, but I'm not holding my breath.

The Wizard put a spell on her that made her cries destructive when she was a baby. Her momma (Black Canary 1) had Superman have Jonny Thunder's Thunderbolt put her in a secret stasis/dimension thingy. Sometime, Supes brought her out and taught her how to use the scream when she was grown. That is a bunch of Pre-Crisis mumbo jumbo, BTW, so it's probably out of date.
