What if Transformers had come out in the 40s instead of the 80s?

Optimus and his Autobots would probably have been part of the Allied forces, and Megatron would most certainly be a Nazi. This was the WWII era, when all media (especially comics) was uber-patriotic, and EVERY good guy fought Nazis.

This was my original Photoshop colored drawing:

These are two alternate versions, filtered and edited to look as though they've been printed and aged:

Wow, I can't believe I'm the first to comment, considering how long these have been up. ;) I'm impressed. The style is spot on! Reminds me of Captain America and Bucky.

Thanks for the comment.

I think some genres cannot be combined. I've found that Golden Age comics fans don't care about Transformers and Transformers fans don't care about Golden Age comics.

Oh, well. Guess I'm one of the few people who loves both. "Legends" was my favorite JLU episdoe, BTW.

One of favorite Golden Age heroes is Plastic Man. Though to be fair, I have enjoyed every one of his incarnations. And one of the reasons I liked Batman: The Animated Series so much was the art deco feel. The Rocketeer and The Green Hornet are great, too!
