It seems to be a backstory episode, where we learn how Soul Reapers receive their education. Hopefully, there is no "Forest of Death" involved.

Oh boy, a flashback involving Renji. This is way better to see right now then Ichigo's training. What would make it better is if we have the episode after this we cut back to world of living and no main character appear.

Personally, I'm irked that what is basically Heaven looks like a ancient Japanese village. Also, like the previous flashback episode, 5 minutes in and I don't give a damn about what's going on.

EDIT- It's Aizen, and Ichimaru was his Lieutenant once? Did not know that.

Well I was sorta busy so I didn't pay attention so well, but it seemed like a decent ep. It was nice seeing a flashback of the Soul Society. Younger Renji and Whitey chan were awesome. My favorite part was when Captain Aizen came and Gin was his lieutenant. Can't wait till next week.

Well I certainly agree that killing off Ganju wouldn't have affected my enjoyment of the series. The others might have.

I say the Soul Society should consider investing in undead. It's about the only thing I can say that actually makes any sense in this show.

Well, at least we didn't watch Ichigo "train", which is the most positive thing about watching this. As for the episode itself, it was okay, liked the first half more than the second. Overall, a decent watch.

Hisagi had kind of a mullet going back then. It was pretty cool to see them all so young and innocent. Both Bleach tonight and Blood+ had focus on how one character met another.
I didn't mind this episode as much as I thought I would, and actually, I rather enjoyed it. It had barely any Rukia, too *cheers*. Gin is still one slimy bastard

It's weird enough that he has a number tattooed onto his face, but 69 all of numbers? A bit suggestive...

While this episode was a nice break from the usual training and fighting captain plots, I didn't find it too entertaining. I just didn't care enough about the individuals that it focused on. Oh well, there's always next episode.

I thought the episode was alright (though nowhere near as good as the Renji/Rukia flashback episode)....I like "flashback" episodes,though,even if they don't involve the main characters much(Rukia appears in this one,but only briefly...)

Gotta admit, I really liked Izuru's "Game over" moment when all the hollows showed up. Between that and Ishida's half delerious rambling a couple weeks ago ("Wouldn't it be funny if I were the first one to get to Rukia?") a couple of these characters are actually starting to sound like real people. It's a nice to see...

So another Soul Reaper Academy flashback... only this time, less Rukia and more Renji. And more Momo and Izuru and Aizen and Gin. Wait, Gin? Boo!

Suitably so, the episode slanted Momo, as we learn how she developed her close connections to Izuru and Aizen. The poor girl...

Oh, and since someone brought up a comparison to college life... see, folks, this is why teaching assistants shouldn't be teaching potentially hard and/or dangerous lessons with the supervision of a professional. Fifth- and sixth-year students being done in by a large Hollow. Silly super seniors with them trying to sprout their wings before they can fly. :sweat:

And we end the episode with... Momo plotting an escape. Gee, a few more of these and we can say the same thing of that what we already do of people who die (or seem like they're supposed to die) in this show.

Its not a big deal but since it provides a minor look into Ichimaru's future character develpoment I'll put this in spoilers.

He says "Impale them, shinsou" and "Slay them, shinsou" as a sign as how vicious a person he is. This is a hint of what type of person he is. What kind of person wishes to impale and slay his opponents? Its even more clear in the up coming eppys that show him fighting and then I'll use my new avatar of him which will make a lot of sense when you see the eppy it comes from.

I thought it was "Impale him" the first time. I think Gin is trying to do specific commands with Shinzo. Impale Ichigo. Slay the Hollows. Skewer Aizen, maybe?
