Here's what aired on last night's new Popeye show:

"I Eats My Spinach"
"Little Swee' Pea"
"Poopdeck Pappy"

There was an error in the trivia before "Poopdeck Pappy". They said Pappy only appeared in one Famous cartoon. There were two: "Baby Wants a Battle" and "Popeye's Pappy".

Very Good Show last night....But what I can't understand is that why doesn't CN promote this excellent series at all???And did anyone ctach the end of the show, that when Bill Murray anounced that you can catch these cartoons on LNB&W, when this saturday will be the final telecast of CN's best show...It just don't add up????

Well, Murray made the original recording back when LNB&W was safe and sound. I'm still ticked off that they can't at least move LNB&W to another night, but maybe the ratings are going down. They have been very repetitive. If I had to see "One More Time" just one more time...Every time I see it, I feel like the title and the song are mocking me.

I am surprised that they aren't advertising this show either. They're paying $$$ for it so I'd expect them to try to get that money back. They put out more ads for the crummy Chuck Jones Show.

Well, at least they are allowing more episodes of "The Popeye Show" to be made, and did allow them to redo the opening segment of last night's show, instead of scrubbing it completely. (Judging by the comments later in the show, last night's theme was supposed to be "Firsts" -- the very first Popeye cartoon, followed by the very first cartoon with Swe' Pea. That went out the window when "Popeye the Sailor" was deemed to non-PC to show, though "I Eats Me Spinach" was the first cartoon to feature Mae Questel's regular Olive Oyl voice, instead of the Zazu Pitts-sound alike Olive used in most of the other first season Popeyes).

Pappy also appeared in "Ancient Fistory".

'Twas also the first time they played the music when Popeye ate his spinach.

Has the 1930S Popeye meets movies, Sinbad, Ali Baba and Aladdin had a decent DVD release. I bought a 70 years of Popeye
DVD with two of the short movie on, but the quality was very poor.

No, Popeye has not been released on anything other than poor PD DVDs so far. There's an interesting article on Popeye on DVD at www.animationondvd.com
