This, in addition to 18 more previously announced, brings the total to 58.
According to this, they're also changing the format of the show from two 11-minute episodes to one 22-minute episode, as well as slightly tweaking the artwork.
I hope the new ones in the works are as good as the previous episodes.

This is good news, especially about the improved artwork.:)

When thinking of The Replacements,I think of good as watchable when there is nothing else on...

"slightly" tweak the artwork? Well, why doesn't Disney hire character designers who'll get it right the first time around?

That's good, i like the replacements, even thoguh i've only seen a couple mins of a few episodes and "Cinder Riley/Skateboarding Todd ep" that was free on iTunes, i like it better than American Dragon(Gets stabbed in the back by Tuscon Coyote)

Geez Toon Overlord, take a chill pill... Like I'm gonna backstab anyone.
Anyway this looks like Good news for The Replacements and maybe these upgrades will improve the show's appeal (Sort of like what Disney has done for the 2nd Season of The Emperor's New School. The upside to this is that while Disney is getting rid of the 11 minute format for each show, (which Sometimes I feel makes the show rushed), the downside might be the fact that they might try to cram a ton of gags into the show, and some of these gags might not work.
I mean think about it.. The 11 minute episodes from time to time work really well, (Such as Cinder-Riley, ITodd, and a few others), but sometimes it's good to variate the shows and do a few full blown 22 minute episodes. (After all seeing a story with a well written plot is a good idea as well). So I say that mixing it up a little (22 Minute episode one time, 2-11 minute episodes the next), etc., really helps keep a show fresh.. but sometimes a show has a working formula, and it's sometimes best not to tamper with it greatly for risk of losing the viewer by either (1) dragging it out too long (as in the case of the 22 minute episode format), or (2) Rushing it (as in the case of the 11 minute format.) Take a look at Dexter's Lab on CN. sometimes it felt rushed, other times too drawn out.. I think creators and producers should sit down and have ordinary folks work with them on these issues.. that's what really makes a good show even better. (After all there's a thing about "Test Audiences" for Movies.. do the same thing for animation.)
The only thing that could be problematic here is in fact that not many people especially the target age group, are watching this show, and even with the upgraded artwork and the extended story times, this actually could hurt the show in the long run. I'm not saying that The Replacements should go to full blown 22 minute eps exclusively either..
Frankly The Replacements aren't like American Dragon nor are they like Kim Possible either. Each Show has it's unique qualities and Quirkiness. But I am kind of worried that people will lose interest..(After all I sometimes put up new The Replacements Talkbacks (as I am being a lot more flexible here), and no one talks about the new shows, which is of course disappointing, and maybe what's happening here is what I fear.. Namely the fact that more teen and tween fans are now becoming way too savvy for animation altogether and in the end it'll be like I said in another thread that by 2010, we won't even see this show or any animated show on Disney. It'll be all live action. That is.. Until the Teens and tweens tire of that...After all Like I have stated, Teens and Tweens are like cats. They're finnicky.
But until then I'll remain optimistic.. The only way a show will survive is if fans talk about them.. but if no one talks about shows, well then they're doomed for the scrap heap and rightly so, because no one is really interested or really cares.
Frankly I'm starting to like the newer shows a little bit more, but until they can get all of the 'bugs' out of the system, these shows will have their problems.. at least the creators of The Replacements are trying to work on and to fix their show, as are the Creators of The Emperor's new School. Both of these shows in the first season were very formulactic, and showed why these shows weren't working in the first place, much like American Dragon did. Once the creators of all of these shows figured it out, then things smoothed out.. and the shows became more enjoyable.
Now that the creators of both Emperor's New School, and The Replacements finally figure out what appeals to viewers will both shows really become completely enjoyable, and if fans are supportive of the shows and will comment more, maybe they'll stick around longer. After all Disney of today isn't like it was in 2001, nor will it be like today in 2010.
But until the new episodes and ideas that are part of this show, really appear, and we get a look at them, I'm going to be totally neutral, yet optimistic, on this judgement.. After all it's not the show that drives the fans. Rather it's the other way around. It's the fans that drive all the shows.
Nuff Said.

Updated art-style? Huh, wonder if that's a new trend with Disney's cartoons. Wonder what it'll look like.

Eh?
It's been reported several times (here on TZ, even) that it's one of Disney's highest-rated programs.

"The Replacements" crew didn't have as big of a budget before. They now have a bit more cash, and have hired a few new people.

It is Disneys highest rated program? I didn't know this, every where I go people complaine about it. Well anyways I say it needs more Todd episodes, he's my favorite character. And give it more story arcs I say.

I didn't say highest-rated, I said one of the highest-rated programs. The live-action Disney programs beat it out big time.

The only real story arcs I'd consider good are ones that focus on the family's relationships and maybe Todd and Riley's 'real' parents, something with a little drama. That's one of the appeals of Amdrag,it has a storylines to follow as well as standalone episodes. Now,if TR can balance these two elements they'll have something. :D

I guess only 1 FOP per day must not be enough for the kids.

Well there was a rumor I heard from one of my animation classmates that Stephen Silver may be involved in updating the designs. I'm not quite sure if this is true, but it might be quite interesting.

Just a wee joke, but i wanted to take a chill pill anyway(And i took it the Klaymation way by watching the chill pill toon from Knox)
And see, that's what i thought, but hopefully a retooling will work on both shows(Since God knows Disney needs it)

I'd agree that the quality has to pick up in order to keep me watching. Season 1 has had good episodes... and then episodes that made me wonder 'why am I watching this dull show again?'
But I wasn't aware it was still popular enough to tack on another 13 episodes to the Season 2 order. Hmmm... maybe Disney's summer strategy of having the live-action premiere episodes lead into the animated premiere episodes on Saturday nights is working after all.

There is one other thread that runs through the two extended shows. New School and Replacements are also on the ABC Kids schedule -- which may or may not mean a darn thing.
Just kinda thinking out loud.

And they'll be repeats from the previous
season. Back in the day when ABC-TV aired toon shows that came from Hanna-Barbera, Filmation, and Departe-Freeling, the episodes were first run,
then after Thanksgiving (or Christmas) they became reruns.

Stephen Silver doing the Character upgrades? Well if it is true I.R., then count me in on this one. Anything Silver does is pure magic. He's been two for two (With Both Kim Possible and Danny Phantom) and if this is true then Believe me, I'll watch it.

This topic is about The Replacements getting another season, not about bashing shows.American Dragon,BTW,is one of the best things to happen to DC in a LONG time.IMHO.
ON-TOPIC:Not too thrilled for the new eps but if they can retool the animation and add a few story arcs I'll give it another shot. :)

The Replacements is flat, uninspired, contrived and derivative. And nothing I've seen in the ratings charts lately indicates that it's anything like a hit. But it's not an out-and-out miserable flop so I guess that's why Disney is going for more. Personally, I don't care what gets done to the art and the format - the two main characters are a bore and the premise is weak so I won't be tuning in.
