Well, I haven't posted this in a few years, and it always gets the most interesting replies, so here's a question for all...
What's the oddest Bat (or Supes, for that matter) -merchandise you've ever seen? It seems like they'll slap the bat signal or the Superman S on just about anything. The execs don't seem very discriminating. :D
My vote (and this is very holiday-appropriate!) is for the Batman: The Animated Series valentines I picked up a few years back. I couldn't believe the store carried them; BTAS had been off the air awhile. It was a pack of those cheesy paper punch-out cards with pictures of Batman, Catwoman, the Joker, and the like...just what I want for Valentine's Day: a supercriminal! All had hilariously cheesy phrases printed beneath them (ie: You're Purrfect, Valentine!) And the best part? The tiny, multicolored heart-shaped stickers to seal the envelopes. Each was festooned with an image of Batman's cowled head, looking out of the brightly colored sticker grimly. Weirdest thing ever.
All right...who else has seen something crazy? And...did you break down and buy it?
