The reverse of the other thread.

Queer Duck's theme always has me laughing, even if the rest of the show is just plain stupid. Bobobo has a similar issue, but that's less due to the theme itself and more due to the fact the show gets annoying after 2-3 minutes at a time.

Johnny Test.

Great theme song, but just could never get into the show.

When I was little, I didn't like the Raccoons too much because I was too young to really understand the storylines, but I really loved the opening theme. I always watched it, and the first few minutes of the show, but grew disappointed because it wasn't as interesting as the opening. Eventually I started liking the show though... And got sick of the opening (except for the music).

101 Dalmatians: the Series - Maddeningly catchy theme by Petersen/Quinn/Heintz...but the show stinks.

Quack Pack. For such a boring show, the theme song rocked.

Mega Man. The opening theme was pure adrenaline. Sadly, that was the only thing good about the show as the show itself was pure cheese and I think 90% of the show's budget went into making the opening.

The 1960s Spiderman show had a legendary opening theme song ("Spiderman, Spiderman, does whatever a spider can...") but the show, from what I've seen, is pretty awful.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that.

Maybe I'm the only one who thinks this, but looking back at it, the Donkey Kong Show intro was actually quite rocking. Even if it was one of those clip itnros with scenes from the actual show, it was well done and the music was nicley made. The show itself, from animation and writing and even characterization wasn't really good at all (and I only watched a few episodes since it had Donkey Kong in it) but the theme song was solid.

Really? I thought was an okay cartoon, in a "let's lower our expectations it's a spin-off of a 40 year-old Disney movie" kind of way.

As unpopular as it might be, I say Thundercats. Could never get into the show, but the theme song was pretty cool.

'Silverhawks'. The opening theme is easily the best thing about the show.

ChalkZone- The show itself was "Eh" to me, but the theme song was solid.

Droids (One half of the Ewoks/Droids Adventure Hour)- Now don't get me wrong, Droids was not really a bad show, I just wasn't really into it at the time. However, I watched the show every week just to hear the opening theme song.

The Batman, season 1 - Terrible show, but season 1's theme was composed and performed by The Edge, making it win by default.

Both openings for SWAT Cats are pretty rockin'--pretty much the best and most memorable thing about what is otherwise a mediocre mid-nineties cartoon.

Oh man, I had almost forgotten about that terrible show..hmm, bad shows with good openings, thats a tough one, alot of times bad shows have bad themes. I always like the Jetsons theme, but the show for me was hit and miss.

I agree. The theme song was pretty cool. I used to watch the show a lot, and a few months ago my sister and I were laughing for about an hour after remembering all the stupid stuff on that show.

Oh I got one now. Scooby Doo. The theme song for the original was fun and catchy, the show, like all things Scooby related I couldn't stand.

There's lots of examples of this, at least before 2000. Here's one I was just revisiting yesterday:
Hulk Hogan's Rock N Wrestling (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cEH7jTdxP_8)

I challenge you not to pump your fist in the air. Apparently it's based on a Bonnie Tyler song.

I liked Atomic Betty's theme song, and, if that counts, the Drawn Together pilot's opening.

Catscratch wasn't much of a cartoon, but it had EXCELLENT theme song.

I loved the shows and the songs both. But Quack Pack was dissapointing and Johnny Test is mediocre, but they had great songs.

I thought the animated incarnation of "Dilbert" was just so-so (the strip's sense of humor doesn't translate too well into television without seeming like a ripoff of "The Drew Carey Show"), but the opening sequence still remains one of my all-time favorites.

I know this is cartoons, but there is one I can think of, but only because of one reason.

Power Ranger Turbo. The reason? Justin. I don't know what those guys at Saban were thinking when they gave a kid Ranger powers. Thank God they ditched him before PRiS, although he did come back early 2nd season.

I recently found my old VHS of the 1988 syndicated Dennis the Menace show. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NbCl77HZwE0)

The opener is great; I replayed it about fifteen times. I still love the chaotic saxophone theme they came up with, and all the things that happen in the opener are much better than in the show itself (Dennis and Joey are chased by a ghost, then fall through a trapdoor and into a minecart, where they blast through an open mine while being chased by a 100-foot-tall boulder, and that's just for starters).

The show itself, however, is about as bad a hackjob as you can imagine. There is one cartoon where none of the voices were properly synched up to the lip movements. It wouldn't have been hard to fix; they just didn't bother.

My vote goes to Ripping Friends. The intro is actually pretty good, mixing in action-themed clips with a vigorous, high-energy orchestral theme.

With anime, there are many. I frequently listen to music from BLEACH, but I don't care for the show. And Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex has great music, but it's booooring.

I can't really think of anything else... oh!! Kappa Mikey. The show is so-so, but theme is great. Incidentally, it's the same group that does one of my favourite pieces from BLEACH. xD

Digimon Frontier: FIRE!! is a great song, but Frontier wasn't that great. Definitely the black sheep of the franchise.

X-Men: TAS: The show itself is an embarrassment to Marvel and the X-Men franchise, but the theme song was damn catchy.

DiC didn't give a credit to the animation studio, so I have no idea who really did it.

Yes, the theme (performed by the Ray Ellis Singers) is a cult classic, but the show itself was tres cool. That's why Fox tried to recapture the vibe by getting Joe Perry of Aerosmith to compose the theme for the later series.

As for what I think of what would fit in this thread. I'd say the Real Adventures of Jonny Quest. Lame show, cool instrumentals.

Wrong! Rick Derringer composed the theme.
