Tonight's Cowboy Bebop episode may not air, due to a silly mistake at CN (apparently they lost the tape).
Most likely taking its place will be Brain Scratch.
If it doesn't air tonight, it will probably air next week, in the place of Brain Scratch.
The Party and Teddy Cam reviews will be up soon.

Try my new Son-of-a-Gun Stew!
It'll put a fire in your belly!
Hands down, this is the funniest episode of CB in existence. Especially with the whole name-change thing at the end.

God bless the jap version of this episode. Musashi...hehe. The engrish lines are hilarious in the full japanese version. My advice is: If you have the DVDs, watch Funk in japanese w/subtitles. it's heeeelarious.

I'm talking about CN losing the tape - how can they be so absent-minded? You're right - they should have aired another episode (preferably Brain Scratch) though

you know that what CN might be trying to do is hold off on showing "Cowboy Funk" tell the saturday night move.
If this is the case then I guess it could be called
1. a smart move to put up even more hipe or
2. a stupied move that is going to piss people off
or
3. CN is still scared to so that type of content after 9-11.
ether way I think that number 2 is going to and already has happened to a lot of people.

They are showing episode 12 (Jupiter Jazz pt. 1).
How can they lose the tape to "Cowboy Funk"? Man that is so damn stupid! I wanted to see this ep so bad :(. I ain't mad though. I have lost things before, so I ain't gonna get on someone else.
Anyway AS is a very cool block that has content I can't see anywhere else (or I have to buy it :p), so I aint complaining. If AS went away i'd be very bored on Sunday nights, or I might just have to sleep...
I bet they will start over season 2 now.

I come down stairs this morning, having gone to bed after setting my VCR to record it last night. All excited to see the last ep of CB that I haven't seen yet. Then I start the tape...
"WTF!?!?!? JUPITER JAZZ!?!?!?!?!?!"

Smeg it, someone said exactly what I was thinking. And I wasn't too big a fan of Jupiter Jazz to begin with, so this was a SHARP disappointment.

Does this happen a lot at national networks? I'd be less skeptical if the promo didn't feature a shot of two WTC-like towers exploding...Still, CN told us which episodes they were omitting during the first run, so I see no reason for things to be any different this time round. I just hope they find it by Thursday...

hello again every body, wow for my first reply and I shore did manage to cause quite a steer up of things.
But, I would like to say that it dose suck episode wasn't shown, and that I do hope that it airs on Thursday cause I don't think that anyone should miss this ep.
As for the other matters a hand I believe Matt and what he says.
My ideas are just that ideas; unless there is this massive consperacy to not show "Cowboy Funk" because it will cause the end of life as we know it, or some other catastrophe such as another Gary Coleman cartoon, and I some how managed to guess it dead on, I think that "Cowboy Funk" will air some time in the immediate future.
But until Matt or anyone else finds out when it is showing on CN I think that the Conspiracy theories can be put to rest, we should just hold on for the ride. After all there is not a hole hell of a lot we can do about it yelling at Matt.

They never show a new show on Thurs. so it wouldn't really make any sense for it to air on this Thurs. There's no reason to think that they won't just air Jupiter Jazz. Wait until Sunday at least, they should find it and air it by then.
Sheamon
02-11-2002, 08:51 PM
That wouldn't logically apply for something that was an 'accident' though.
We all know how Cartoon Network operates when the schedule might be screwed up. They skip the episode so they stay on schedule. They did it with Gundam Wing on my first viewing, causing me to go crazy (after seeing only episodes 14&15, they skipped over episode 16 when it got pre-empted rather than airing it the next time Gundam Wing was on. And of course in the next episode, the whole Zechs battle thing is resolved and they're going into space, so just imagine how confused someone like me, who had only seen 2 episodes of Gundam Wing, was). They did it with Mobile Suit Gundam shortly before cancelling it. They do it with Dragonball & Dragonball Z on numerous occasions. I can't see the channel going out of its way and going off schedule, so past history would suggest that if the episode does not air this Thursday, they'll still go right to Brain Scratch/Hard Luck Woman anyway next Sunday.

Yes, but we're talking about the same company that was kind enough to put Real Folk Blues pt. 1 and pt. 2 on the same night, despite what the schedule was originally going to run.
If they find the tape, they will play it.

nothing
02-11-2002, 10:15 PM
Why would CN "censor" the episode at the last minute when they've had it on their schedule for months?
I'm not 100% sure that the tape was mis-placed. However, the persons I've spoken to said this was the likely scenario.
Actually, I think the real reason they didn't play the episode is to drum up rumors and gossip for the new adult swim block coming on the 23rd.

Animenation is crap. They base a lot of their news on heavy assumption instead of actually putting research into what they're talking about.

I agree with the person who talked about CN's scheduling methods. If they don't air it on Thursday, they likely won't air it.
Then again, with CB moving to Saturdays, they may keep it, because it wouldn't change that much.

I'm actually kind of glad that it didn't air. I meant to watch it, but I ended up listening to a Kenny Wayne Sheppard concert on the radio (God that guy can play), so since I can't watch AS Thursday, I was kinda hoping it would be postponed a week. My own selfish desires, I guess.

Exactly. I mean, the previous two unaired episodes did air, in order. Maybe the tape got lost in the control room . . .
or maybe this is the thing.
They're purposely airing Jupiter Jazz out of order to mark the arrival of Adult Swim Action next Saturday. Afterall, the lineup did say that The Real Folk Blues Part Two was airing on that night. Who's to say that they're not airing the only four episodes that seem to coorelate (co-relate, spelling errors suk :bosko: ), which is episodes 12, 13, 25, and 26? It kinda makes sense, and if they air Jupiter Jazz part two and TRFB part on Sunday, then, this theory is indeed true. Of course I could be talking out of my six (don't ask where I got that saying from).

I pretty sure it got lost in the Scooby doo archives.
Bob, you ass! How the hell did you mix a tv-14 rated anime into a bunch of mindless, TV Y rated complete ****? Grrrr! Ok...how many episodes of scobby doo have a wild west motif?
Uhh...about 2...hundred.
Ok....how many have something to do with buildings exploding?
3. In all three it was scrappy's fault.
Wow...thanks for enlightning me, dumbass. Now go get the tapes from wherever you catalogue 'exploding buildings'.
I can't.
Why the hell not, Bob? Tell me why the hell you can't go and get a freaking tape from your own catalogue?

I understand what you mean, nemalki, but I don't really think that's how it's gonna work.
Part of me thinks they're just going to start from Asteroid Blues when ASA premieres. Perhaps they'll switch Brain Scratch and Hard Luck Woman with RFB 1 and RFB 2.
Nothing would be more annoying for a new viewer than to see the final episode of a show on the first night of a new block.

Well, my question is, how often does Matt (or in this case, Nothing) have to be right before you'll say "you know, that Matt fellow is right most of the time. I think I'll believe what he says." If Matt wasn't right 95%-99% of the time, maybe I would say "it must be some other reason! There's got to be a different explaination!!" Matt's _certainly_ more accurate than Animenation. I think it's just that people want to believe that CN is up to some big conspiracy, that Kellner is like that guy in the Daft Punk videos, manipulating everything towards some diabolical end. Being a more practical person myself, I can a lot more easily believe that "they lost the tape" rather than "they're just trying screw with our heads, man!"

Correction. That was the strangest damn episode of the whole series. ;)
Not bad at all! Andy was absolutely bizarre, but the regular cast helped make it surreal the whole time. It was worth seeing Jet dressed up as a hippie though. :D
And poor Ein! First wearing Jet's wig, then riding Ed (and obviously not happy about it)...
I think the whole thing was worth the wait, overall.

That episode was hilarious. Andy, errr... Musashi is the greatest character ever, and the fact that he and Spike wanted to duel and forget about the bomber was great. Even the preview for the next episode was great. Musashi!
Anyone who didn't catch this one missed the best of them all... maybe best isn't the right word... maybe I should say the oddest of them all.

Yea it aired,
On to the review,
Simple put one of the best Bebop Sessions ever.
Plus points
1. Humor, let's face it Jet is makes a good hippie.
2. Spike vs. Andy/Musashi
3. once again shows that the pets on the show are smarter than any human, and can play a decent game of chess.
the only down side is that I still have the Andy's theme stuck in my head. but like I said before still one of the best Bebop Session
as for everything else I think Jet said it best with:
"Open foot, insert mouth"
hears hoping that the movie comes around soon
