Ever since 2005, SpongeBob episodes have been loaded with songs. I think it is a sign of weakness. What do you think? Do you like the singing? Or is it just a bit too much?

Actually, I kind of like some of songs. Sure, a few of them are annoying, but songs like "The Campfire Song Song" and "Sweet Victory" were funny.

Yeah the songs from Seasons 1-3 were either in the show for a purpose or were just downright entertaining. But when we reached Dunces and Dragons and heard mediocre lyrics from Squidward for half an hour, I knew we had hit a different (and unfortunately lower) level of entertainment.

Edit: An exception must be made for Season Five's "I Wrote This." Pure. Genius.

I do agree, that there is a place & time for songs, but to just use them to fill time-that IS a waste!

Interestingly, "Sweet Victory" wasn't actually written for the show. It is a stock piece from the Associated Production Music library. It just happened to fit the mood of that scene, so it was used.

Anyway, songs on SpongeBob can be a mixed bag. Some I like ("Hey All You People", "Ripped Pants", "F.U.N."), some I don't ("Without You", "The Very First Christmas", "He's Flying", "All You Need is Friendship", "The Best Day Ever").

I liked the earlier songs (1999-2004) but after that I have yet to find one that I like.

That's a reasonable assumption. Writers do on many occasions have trouble filling eleven minutes. What better way to drag out a scene than to throw in a musical number?

They know there are too many songs in Spongebob. Today's new episode even pointed that out when a background character stopped Spongebob from singing.

Yes, but that doesn't make it better, does it?

I like most of the songs I've heard. But I haven't been watching recently.

I quoted myself. Weird. But anyway, I changed my mind. I actually did like "Gary Come Home", if that's what it was called, from "Have You seen This Snail?".

The songs from the earlier days of Spongebob are among the finest ever to have emerged from a Nicktoon (Ripped Pants, Sandy's Texas Song, Doin' The Sponge, and most especially The F.U.N. Song), and even some of the middling songs like "Very First Christmas" and "Underwater Sun" have the proper spirit and catchiness.

The Songs in the "Lost epiosde", however, are surpirsingly trite, and I guess that's where the downward spiral starts.

But nothing compares to the "Campfire Song" song.

How come nobody mentioned the Loop de Loop song from "Your Shoe's Untied"? That one was pretty good.

In my opinion the show doesn't have too many songs but some are unneeded.

Meh

I really like some of the catchy songs like "Campfire Song Song", "Shoe Tying song", the "Jellyfishing song" and "F.U.N" and sometimes hear others sing it in the most embarassing of places and other sing it with them. Then there are the songs that are just full of win like "Sweet Victory", "Ripped Pants", and that one song where . Actually I love "Sweet Victory" and it is a great song to play in an arena or right before a game. Then there are the stupid songs fortunately I never actually heard them.

It's not a song sung by the characters, but I really like "That's What Friends Do" from "Wormy". So catchy. And of course, "Hey Mean Mr. Bossman" from "Squid on Strike". I'm a quittin' this here job. :D

I adore the classics, like F.U.N., The Shoe-Tying Song, and (of course) The Campfire Song Song. The newer songs are annoying and unnecesarry. I admit 'Throw All Your Dreams Down a Well' amused me slightly, but that's about it.

I am a HUGE fan of the songs in SpongeBob - at least, the songs that were in the show pre-Lost Episode, I believe. The song in that episode was not even comparable to Campfire Song Song, or F.U.N, or all those good songs. Oh, and I love the Very First Christmas song, too. That special is one of my favorite things about the holiday season XD

But anyway, now there are songs that are used just as filler. It's getting quite asinine.
