New Shows for The Detour On TELETOON

* Metalocalypse (Canadian Premiere)
Monday nights get metal as Dethklok, the world's biggest metal band, rocks the Detour at 10 pm and midnight ET/PT. For the ferociously popular five-piece band, life is full of darkness, pain, destruction and death as well as groupies, ear-shattering heavy metal and giant wads of cash. The 15 minute top-rating Adult Swim series is created by Brendon Small (Home Movies) and Tommy Blacha (Da Ali G Show) and is produced by Cartoon Network.

* Sealab 2021 (Canadian Premiere)
The crew of the classic 1972 Hanna-Barbera cartoon series, Sealab 2020, has been replaced with a gang of misfits unfit for public service. Their mission is to investigate underwater colonization and they are doing a very bad job. Audiences can join Captain Hazel Hank Murphy, Derek Stormy Waters, Debbie DuPree and the rest of the Sealab crew as they attempt to uncover the mysteries of the sea and avoid pissing each other off, every Wednesday night at 10 pm and midnight ET/PT, from Cartoon Network.

* Frisky Dingo (Canadian Premiere)
Created by Matt Thompson and Adam Reed (creators of Sealab 2021) This brand new 15 minute series from Cartoon Network follows the logistical hiccups of supervillian Killface, forced to market his brand of evil to find funds in order to propel the Earth into the sun. In the meantime, his nemesis, Awesome-X, is ambivalent about stopping Killface, as wiping him out might crush toy sales. Frisky Dingo airs on The Detour on TELETOON, Tuesday evenings at 10:15 pm and 12:15 am ET/PT.

* Moral Orel (Canadian Premiere)
Created by Dino Stamatopoulos (Mr. Show, Tom Goes to the Mayor, and Late Night with Conan O'Brien) Moral Orel is an angelical stop motion animation that follows Orel, a nine year-old growing up in Moralton, a devoutly Christian town. Determined to follow God, Orel finds himself in all of scrapes from self mutilation to crack addiction all due to his confused devotion to scripture and earnest piety. From Cartoon Network, Moral Orel airs Tuesday nights at 10 pm and midnight ET/PT.

* Assy McGee (Canadian Premiere)
In the big city, crime is running rampant. Drugs, robberies and murder are around every corner. Things are looking bleak. It's a good thing that Assy McGee is on the case ready to give the bad guys the bums steer. Created by Matt Harrigan (Space Ghost Coast to Coast) and Carl W. Adams, Assy is a tough yet romantic walking pair of buttocks not afraid to take crime head (bum?) on. Assy McGee tackles the mean streets Monday nights at 10:15 pm and 12:15 am ET/PT. Produced by Cartoon Network.

* Perfect Hair Forever (Canadian Premiere)
To find a cure for his premature baldness, young Gerald embarks on a quest aided by various strange friends including Uncle Grandfather and Action Hotdog, all the while trying to avoid the evil Coiffio and his bizarre henchmen. Taking its cues from Japanese animation, Perfect Hair Forever is a frenetic and surreal trip into a warped world of anime conventions from Cartoon Network and airs Wednesday nights at 10:15 pm and 12:15 am ET/PT.

* Minoriteam (Canadian Premiere)
A crew of superheroes use the overwhelming force of racial stereotypes to defeat their sinister and racist nemesis, The White Shadow and his lackeys including Corporate Ladder, Standardized Test and Racist Frankenstein. Our heroes: Jewcano, Non-Stop, El Jefe and Fasto, led by the human calculator Dr. Wang, fight for all people of colour, except white people, unless they are Jewish. Premiering October 19, a double-bill of Minoriteam will air each Thursday night at 10 pm and midnight ET/PT and is a Cartoon Network production.

They also got Smoking Gun TV, which was a Court TV original series. Now they own all of Adult Swim's back catalog.

Oh well. Whatever they get is still better then the wasteland of a schedule they have now.

It's puppets.

Which for some reason people think are cartoons. Smoking Gun does have some cartoon elements, but it's more puppets than not.

Good for Canada

Enjoy Metalocalypse, Sealab 2021, and Frisky Dingo

Why are they getting Perfect Hair Forever? That only has 6(7 if u count webisode) episodes, and assy currently only has 6 as well

This fall Teletoon is losing Family Guy, and Futurama is being moved off of the Detour, and will presumably move to YTV in 2008. (They've confirmed that they "have" it, but it's still on Teletoon's schedule for September.) So essentially, their block is going to be Adult Swim minus the shows that actually made it successful. Also minus anime and any sense of humour or irony. It's going to be very interesting to see how that pans out.

What their line-up really needs is Shinchan. Without Family Guy and Futurama to fall back on, they really shouldn't have the clout to turn down anime left and right anymore.

No attempt for American Dad?

Futurama on YTV? Weird. Also the new schedule sucks too. Where's Aqua Teen and the Venture bros?

No attempt for American Dad?The broadcast network Global already has American Dad. I'd imagine that Teletoon would have to wait for some kind of syndication package before they could air it.

And considering the way Global-owned cable network TVTropolis stole away Family Guy from Teletoon, I suspect they may have the inside track on getting American Dad reruns.
