Edit: Even if it's 10 years old, I should add SPOILERS AHEAD to be on the safe side.
I have only just recently seen it, and i'm really confused by the ending. Why the **** was Shinji choking Asuka? I know he did that in his Instrumentality psychoanalyzing barrage, but that stuff never actually happened right? Just his thoughts?
But when he's back in reality on the beach, he turns to her, then chokes her out? Man, ****ing Shinji.
Maybe that's how he gets off :\.

In case you don't realise:sweat: , Shinji just had a REALLY bad day... And since Asuka was able to speak afterwards, it wasn't as bad as it looks.

I understand that his day was traumatic, but he had just come to grips with himself. He decided to stay with people, even with the pain. I thought he was rid of the bull. It was a shock that he reverted back at that moment, and to Asuka of all people :P.

Just think... the "ending" will probably make even less sense after watch Tsurumaki's version next year.

Depends on how he ultimately directs it. If it's like FLCL, the only reason it'll be hard to understand is not because it's confused or convoluted, but because their will be a large amount of information being put forth so rapidly that you can't digest it all w/o watching it twice.
