I had bought the MTV version of Spiderman on DVD. i remember back when it was on MTV. i didn't really get into because it was so different from the spiderman i grew up watching, but after watching it on DVD. i actually got into it. I like this version of Spiderman better than the movie version. i like it for the simple fact that he was talking trash against all villains he was up against. He had all the teenage/college angst while trying to juggle friends/work/studying/and fighting crime. I also liked the guest voices they had.

I put this spiderman with X Men Evolution. Both shows had great potential and ended way to soon

what do you folks think about MTV version of Spiderman

Looks like you took a gamble and it paid off.

At first I was a bit taken back too with it's animation, but after looking past that and to the more important thing (spiderman himself and his adventures) I quickly grew on to the series, though just like you said, it ended pretty fast....actually make it too fast.

Definately, the best Spider-man series I have seen as I haven't seen too many. Spider-man TAS was something I watched when I was a kid. I didn't see too many episodes but I tried to watch it as a teen and I didn't like it too much. Anyway, best way to enjoy MTV Spider-man is to forget that it was suppose to be based on the move. When you get past that, you will realize that it was a very unique Spider-man series. It ended up being good even after villains they ended up getting.

MTV's Spider-Man was that series aimed at the whole 14-21 crowd anyhow. (The MTV Audience)
Though it just kinda makes me want a Ultimate Spider-Man series for Toonami.

I watched the 90s series as a kid and enjoyed it, though I'm afraid to watch it nowadays for fear of that joy.. disappearing, I guess is the word I can use there.

I watched MTV Spiderman over the winter and actually found it to be a decent series, though I was taken back a bit by the animation as well, but it didn't bother me past that first episode.

I guess I'm one of the few people here who didn't like X-Men: Evolution. Oh well.

The MTV Spider-Man show was OK, though the Fox show was better, IMO. As was said previously, in order to fully appreciate it, you had to take into account that it was based in the movie's universe. I'm not a huge Spider-Man fan, but I could watch the show for a half-hour and not complain. When it went off of MTV, there was talk about the series moving to Sci-Fi Channel, but apparently that must've just been an internet rumor.

Did anybody else notice how they wore the same clothes all the time? The characters were a bit too whiny for my tastes, a bunch of emo kids. The final insult was how the show was left on a cliffhanger. For a while, many folks thought it was directly related to the movie, and that Spiderman 2 would pick up where the MTV show ended. Of course, that never happened.

It's about on par with Spiderman Unlimited. Neat to have, but far from great. A project prematurely ended.

I can't even remember the cliffhanger for MTV Spider-man, but I do recall the 'SMU' cliffhanger and it ticked me off when it was canceled lol.

He threw the Spider-man costume into the river and quit.

Spider-man (1994) also ended on a cliffhanger. If I recall correctly (and it's been 2 years since I last watched the show), Peter went off to find Mary Jane. That whole last season was rushed, poorly written, and lacked conclusion. It was not cancelled as much as it just ended it's run, so it's sad that there was not a real good finale.

Silver Surfer had an unresolved cliffhanger too, but at least they leaked the script for episode #14.

At least all the X-MEN shows had an ending.

Marvel just is not very good when it comes to endings. Between Disney butchering 1990s episodes, Cartoon Network poorly airing Fantastic Four, and a near-total lack of DVD releases, Marvel shows are getting the shaft. MTV wasn't much better for them.

I always thought MTV was a weird place to put Spidey anyway. It might have worked back in the 1990s animation era (Beavis & Butthead, Aeon Flux, The Maxx, etc), but it didn't fit in to the 2000s era dominated by TRL and reality programs.

He took part in the Secret Wars, fought the battle Madame Web had been prepping him for for the last three seasons or so, saved the multiverse from Spider-Carnage with the help of Uncle Ben, and finally met Stan Lee before he left to look for MJ. If that's not a conclusion, I don't know what is.

Agreed. I really liked both shows. I watched both on DVD only so I haven't seen the fourth season of Evolution but I will buy it if they ever release it. These two shows, along with X-Men TAS, are the only animated Marvel television shows that I have really liked. I also liked the recent Marvel DTV's, too.

To be fair, I have never seen the 1990's Avengers, Iron Man, or Spider-man Unlimited series for the most part. So I'm reserving judgment on those for a later date. I'm still on the fence about the latest Fantastic Four series.

It was pretty rough that the girlfriend that Peter had died on him though a la Gwen Stacy. Her name was Indy or something wasn't it?

That's right. She was apprantly MTV's replacement for Betty Brant according to the press releases. I always thought she was a little too good at being annoying, which was quite the shame - I thought the show did a pretty good job with making Mary Jane interesting.

Still, Indy's ultimately tumble made for a fantastic finale.
