So my mom dad and myself are trying to figure out a vacation place to go to this August, and I figured I'd throw it out to TZ.
We live in CT, and we were hoping to only drive a short distance anyways, since we're going to be flying to Florida in Novemember.
I wrote down some places like Virginia Beach, Ocean City and Cape May, but I'm not sure where else there is. Has anybody ever been to those places, or knows another good vacation spot on the east coast?

Ocean City is really fun! There's a huge boardwalk along the ocean with all these fun places to go to... I went there with my family about a year ago and I got this pretty looking ink tatoo. *Glances at shoulder* Yeah, it's gone...

Buffalo, NY is a nice area to drive up to. It has a theme park called Darien Lake, which used to be a Six Flags, among other stuff. It's also close to Niagra Falls, so you could also go there and check out Canada on the other side of the border right there. It's like 5-6 hours away for me, but not sure how long it would be for you. Maybe an extra hour?

VA Beach and Ocean City, MD are going to be a fairly long way from CT. Cape May is a bit closer, but not by a whole lot. There is the rest of the Jersey shore. I hear Wildwood is pretty neat.
Are you looking for amusement parks, or museums or somethign else?

Just anything really. I've been to wildwood and Cape May, but we were hoping for something right on the beach, with resturants and maybe amusement parks near by.

Most of the Jersey Shore meets your needs. There's Ocean City, Atlantic City (Yes, there's an amusement park there for at least the rest of this year), Keansburg Park, Point Plesant, Seaside Park and even Six Flags over in Jackson. It's barely 30 minutes from the shore.
You guys could also go over to the Philadelphia area. Six Flags is still close, and there's also Hershey, Dorney Park, Clementon Park and Knobels Grove nearby, plus all of the stuff in Philly.

i'd say check out williamsburg, busch gardens, and VA beach or ocracoke island in the outer banks, NC. maybe spend a day in ocean city and/or baltimore on your way there or back. it depends how long you're planning to stay though and what you prefer. NJ and maryland are great for restaurants and parks and the places further south have better beaches. i think VA is the best mix of things if it's not too far.
