While I was asleep (well, duh...), I had an interesting dream... which was probably inspired by the "1967, 1968, and 1969 cartoons" thread from a few weeks ago.

Anyway, I dreamed I was watching Cartoon Network, something I can literally only dream of (It's not available here in Canada) and I was being exposed to the Bill Hendricks cartoons. After seeing "Cool Cat", I was exposed to a new cartoon series, "Cookie and Faith".

I know just what you're gonna say; who the Sam Hill are "Cookie and Faith"? That's just it. My subconscious just made them up. Cookie is a small mountain boy who lives in the Ozarks with his girl-mountain of a big sister, Faith (think "Possum Pearl"). Together, they live with their hillbilly parents and spend their time "protecting" them from outside forces. Sadly, I woke up before I could "watch" the entire cartoon. This one dealt with a burglar trying to break into their house and make off with their goods, only to be thwarted by Cookie and Faith. What's even weirder was there was a CN glitch as the sound got turned off after the opening credits.

Of all the W/7 series, this has to be the weirdest. ;) Any comments?

One final note: The "Cookie and Faith" cartoon was by Bob McKimson, not Alex Lovy (it was "made" around the same time as the Bunny & Claude cartoons).

Weird....I once had a dream that I was watching "Porky's Last Stand" on Nick (before I had actually seen it). My dream version of the cartoon involved Porky and Daffy living on a farm and a Cab Calloway caricature (as he appeared in "Have You Got Any Castles") singing to the chickens.

One thing that tickles me about this is, under Bob McKimson's hand, a "Cookie and Faith" short or series would likely have been a cut or two above anything else coming out of W/7 by then.

For another, and slightly O/T, your subconscious gets a few extra points for paying sly tribute to Scott "Zot!" McCloud's "almost the same, and yet..." Utopian Earth pop culture concept. (A quick example: Zot, while visiting "our" Earth, finds a Julian Lennon disc in his best girlfriend's collection and asks, "Do you have the one he did with his dad after this?" I still get the chills from having read that line...) In that zone, why not a McKimson series from W/7? So keep dreaming, and enjoy!!
