Two Birdman cartoons bracketed a Galaxy Trio cartoon. This series originally aired on NBC. It premiered September 9, 1967. It was a Hanna-Barbera Production. Birdman is a superhero with wings on his back and gets his strength from the sun, which he is continually having to recharge. He uses the sun energy in the form of heat rays and force beams and can produce a shield made of solar energy. His sidekick is a giant eagle named Avenger, and they sometimes work for the U.S. government under the direction of a covert operative named Falcon 7. Birdman's one downfall is his habit of shouting his name constantly, otherwise it's great fun.

Extras: Birdman Featurette

I was disappointed that these were double sided in an overlapping hub (why can't they do amaray's for two disc sets?), but oh well.

The documentary is 15-20 minutes, a lot of the talking is by the co-creator of Harvey Birdman at Law--he seems to really know the stuff, and it is informative.

I've never seen these that I can remember, (or Space ghost/Dino Boy) but they look pretty good to me.

Theres not much you can do with 7 minute episodes, but I thought they were entertaining even if dated a bit, I enjoyed both the Birdman & Galaxy Trio segments, unlike the Spae Ghost set where Dino Boy did not do much for me.

I just saw the last episode and the documentary (which was only ten minutes long). Writing up summaries and profiles the whole way.

Excuse me, my brain's going to need a while to recover from this...

EDIT:
Er, Kolbar... um... I hate to ask, but did you watch the whole series? I'm just noticing stuff like Birdman's origin - only vaguely hinted at during once or twice in the series; his real name is never even mentioned - and the implication that Birdgirl appeared in more than one episode.

The origin stuff was just info I researched and/or knew offhand from various other sources like the Birdman FAQ (http://webpages.charter.net/superheroes/birdman.html). I've seen the name Ray Randall on various websites as well. Birdgirl only appeared in one episode, I know, so it was just a slight typo. I was just trying to have the paragraph flow and didn't realize my mistake. I'll correct it.

Thanks, but... well, I (unusually for me) hate to be a stickler, but once she stopped flinging nuclear grenades or whatever they were, Birdgirl didn't really do much at all.

It's that episode more than any other that makes me wish it had been a 22-minute affair...

I always thought DC's Hawkman/girl should be more like Birdman, even though Hawkman came first. Birdman's powers are more definitive and formidible and seem more compatible for a Justice League that boasts demi-gods like Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Aquaman, Flash, and Martian Manhunter. A guy like Hawkman doesn't seem necessary and very expendable but a guy like BIRDman I could see walking among them like Zauriel did a few years back.
