Same Town, Bigger SecretsIn the oft-ignored state of Oregon, a small town exists with technology far beyond what we use in our lives. That's because all of the world's greatest geniuses reside in one place in order to nurture their technological achievements. The town, known as Eureka, has existed since World War II, with the latest "mayor" of sorts being Nathan Stark, head of Global Dynamics.

Then U.S. Marshall Jack Carter arrived and became the town's sheriff, much to Stark's chagrin. Carter may not know much about science, but he knows the difference between right and wrong, even if he doesn't understand what exactly the wrong is (Hey, it's not his fault the residents use uber-scientific terms instead of just saying "Ice Storm of Death"). With his delinquent daughter Zoey, Carter tries his best to protect the town of Eureka with his deputy Jo, possible love interest Allison Stark (Nathan's ex-wife), and resident "mechanic," Henry Deacon.

In the previous season, Carter's life was going pretty good. He and Ally got married, Zoey graduated at the top of her class, and Henry's now running Global Dynamics. Unfortunately, it turns out that great future wasn't the correct future, as Henry had traveled back to the year 2006 to save his love, a fellow scientist named Kim, from being killed due to Nathan's obsession with a strange, man-made object of unknown origin known as the Artifact. After deciding that the future needed to be fixed, Carter traveled back through time and stopped Henry, causing Kim to be killed. Now Carter must continue to live his life with the knowledge of a possible future still fresh in his head...

Well, the season is off to a great start. I'm a little disappointed that Carter lost all his memories. It will keep his relationship with Allison from getting too complicated, but I would have preferred the Justice League Unlimited John Stewart/Shayera approach of the man with future knowledge trying unsuccessfully to deal with the problem by himself, followed up with a confession to the woman he loves (though unlike JLU, Carter would be actively pursuing the relationship). However, Henry's dark side could prove to be an interesting story, so I have faith that the minds behind Eureka won't disappoint.

You know, I really, REALLY hope that the Henry-plots-revenge subplot doesn't end with Henry going evil or otherwise jeopardizing reality and forcing Carter to kill him.

Still, a good season opener overall, though I would've liked to see the writers keep the status quo for one more season so that the shakeup would have more impact in Season 3.

I also hope next week's episode isn't too similar to the Stargate Atlantis episode where McKay was also trapped in a personal force field.

Great episode. I got laugh at Carter trying to fit in the current timeline. The scene where Taggart blows up the human skin goo and Carter reaction was great. Gotta say I didn't expect Henry to erase Carter memory of the future and keep his own. Makes me wonder what Henry up to. As for Carter future memories I don't think they are gone forever. Carter will start to remember eventually. Anyway good episiode.

Great episode. I got a laugh of Fargo sending "sexy fantasy" email to Jo and the rest of the girls. From the looks of it seems Stark might take Allison former job at least according her comment at the end of the episode seem to imply. I do hope he and Carter become partners like Alllison was with Carter. The way they interacted with each other was great. Look like Henry is starting to suspect Beverly might be working for some else beside Global Dynamics. Again great episode.

I'm glad this episode didn't mirror Atlantis' plot too much, though I am surprised they didn't even discuss Fargo being hungry or thirsty.

Carter throwing coins at Allison's office was genius.

I missed the 2nd season premiere, but for this season I really hope they get rid of Zoey. She's jackhammer annoying and about as useful to Carter as a burst appendix. I suppose it would be too much to hope that this year the writers will send her off to some boarding school in Burma or something.

Season 2 of Eureka is good so far and Henry is on the road to becoming Eureka's first on screen mad/insane/evil scientist. Very cool indeed.

I got to say Tagger killing the geese shock me only to find out it was robot a later on. So Zoe a genius now. The first season always make her look like an air head. Poor Carter he a 111 :anime: . I got a laugh at Eureka version of the Heathers. The 3 were the oppositte of what the Heathers supposed to look like(all are brunette, one is 12 years old). I also got a laugh of S.A.R.A.H. "going on an adventure" attitude.Good episode.

9/10

So Zoe a genius now.
It's not all that surprising considering she got the highest grades in 2010 back in the alternate future.

Nice episode.Who would have thought that a Fargo could be so brilliant. I also love his reaction to the younger Fargo. He couldn't believe they were related. Good continuity there with Jack still being angry at Allison because of what happened in the last episode. Jack sub plot was surprising. Didn't expected for him to take the blem for something he was'nt directly responsable for. Next week episode look another good one.

Anyone else notice during the tour Fargo gave his grandfather, they showed a human size robot (cool CGI), (Young) Fargo comments, "If you think that one is cool, you should see the big one we have."

Also, it was a kick watching Zoe blackmail S.A.R.A.H. (AI computer) into helping her.

Interesting episode. Beverly returns and Henry finally makes his move. The gold rust trap was an interesting concept and somewhat original. I wonder if Henry was telling the truth about it mutating and now being airborne and deadly to human life? Looking at the preview it seem Carter gonna have his work cut out for him in the season finale.
