Watched the opening ceremonies tonight, and my reactions were:
- NBC's typical lame coverage. Won't rehash the usual stuff you can find on Usenet, but I gather that the CBC's coverage up in Canada probably *is* superior (certainly can't be any worse). Though I give them credit this year for at least mentioning the countries they've skipped in the Parade of Nations via jumping to commercial all those times...
- That segment with the dancing guys in coyote costumes made me wonder where the roadrunners were, since they're western animal natives too ;-)
- Noticed that our old fanfic friend and ex-Harbinger of the Apocalypse has a new movie opening up next month: "Showtime" (presumably not to be confused with the TV channel I wished I could get, if I could afford cable/pay TV). Apparently about Mr. Murphy playing someone who's an action movie actor, from what clips I saw. Sounds a bit like "Bowfinger" sans Steve Martin.... rated PG-13, if anyone cares.
- Finally, thought some of the countries in the Parade of Nations had cool/interesting costumes (or hats)...
