I'm trying to get into Mangas but there are so many of them. What are some good series to start with? (other than Cowboy Bebop and Inuyasha)?

If you haven't read Death Note yet, I suggest that highly as I'm sure many people in this forum would suggest.

The series literally took on a life of its own.

If you like Shonen-type series, then One Piece, Bleach, and Naruto can fill that need.

If you like a series that has action and comedy that is funny, Ranma 1/2 is one you should read.

Death Note is another series to get into.

Well, the first thing I'd do is examine the type of genres you like in your anime. Or your favorite shows. That's always a good place to start.

Another is a place like "Anime News Network" where you can see the top ranked Mangas and use that as a starting point.

Or, my favorite method, is just give yourself 30 minutes or so and head out to your bookstore. Then, just browse. If a title catches your eye, check out the description, then flip through and check out the artwork. If you still like it, buy the first volume.

Maison Ikkoku....possibly Rumiko Takahashi's best work(and at 15 volumes,it's the shortest of her "big" series;Urusei Yatsura,Ranma 1/2,Maison Ikkoku and Inuyasha).....

It's about a would-be college student named Godai who falls in love with his widowed landlady,Kyoko(who married young and is only two years older than him),and how his neighbors seemingly exist just to mess up his life....

It's a very funny story, but also has some sad/touching scenes....Also has one of the best endings I've seen in a manga series...

Well it really depends on what you are looking for in a series, but some I would recommend:

Fruits Basket
Death Note
Yu Yu Hakusho
Rurouni Kenshin

Or, my favorite method, is just give yourself 30 minutes or so and head out to your bookstore. Then, just browse. If a title catches your eye, check out the description, then flip through and check out the artwork. If you still like it, buy the first volume.Just reiterating this point since it's my preferred method of picking a series. Like going into the library to pick a book, it works the same with a manga title.

Well, I went out and bought Inubaka which I really enjoyed and have already finished. I also bought Legal Drug but haven't read it yet. So far so good, I'm hoping to start collecting the Inuyasha Mangas but I need to fins them somewhere cheap.

Where do you buy your mangas online?

I usually get mine from deepdiscountdvd.com. They're one of the cheapest places I've seen on the net and free shipping!

I would recommend Death Note just like a few people have already done.

I don't know if anybody's noticed how into Berserk I am, but... yeah, really into Berserk over here. So I'll do what I always do and recommend that. Hellsing's another good one if you're into the whole blood 'n guts scene.

But yeah, as has been noted, some kind of hint narrowing down what you're looking for (action, humor, drama, etc.?) might help us give you better recommendations.

Silver> Do you currently read Bebop and Inuyasha?

Recommending manga is comparable to recommending magazines: You need to know personal tastes.
